Board of education to meet The Upper Saddle River Board of Education will meet on Monday, Sept. 20 at 8 p.m. The meeting will be held in the media center of the Cavallini Middle School, 392 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River. Night of Broadway Stars slated On Friday, Nov. 5, the Church of the Presentation will host a Night of Broadway Stars at the Woodcliff Lake Hilton. Tickets to this popular event are $150 each. Karaoke machine, picnic aid needed Father Lope from the Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River would like to borrow a karaoke machine for the Parish Picnic, which will be held Sunday, Sept. 26 from 12:30 to 5 p.m. Volunteers are also needed to help make the picnic a success. Admission bracelets are $5 per person. Children age four and under will be admitted free of charge. Republican Club to meet The Upper Saddle River Republican Club’s first meeting of the fall will be held Sept. 28. Refreshments will be served at 7:30 p.m. in the adult solarium of the Upper Saddle River Library at 245 Lakes Street. The meeting will begin at 7:45 p.m. All are welcome. With the November elections just weeks away, the focus
will be on getting out the vote. Guest speakers will be the Bergen County Freeholder candidates Maura DeNicola and John Mitchell, and Upper Saddle River Council candidates Dr. Jon Ditkoff and Dr. Tom Hafner. School Board Retreat announced The Upper Saddle River School Board Retreat will be held Sept. 16 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Upper Saddle River Administration Office, 395 West Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River. No action will be taken at this session. Club welcomes new members The Saddle River Valley Newcomers Club welcomes all residents from Saddle River and Upper Saddle River, regardless of the length of their residency. Library announces fall programs The Upper Saddle River Library has planned various fall programs that are free and open to library cardholders in Bergen County, unless otherwise noted. Join award-winning quilter/teacher Kathleen Davies for Piece a Quilt class. Davies will assist participants as they create a machine pieced table runner, wall hanging, or couch throw. The class runs for seven sessions beginning Sept. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost is $60. Bridge Club meets on Mondays at 7 p.m. or Fridays at 10:30 a.m. Players are grouped by experience level. Preregistration is required. Learn how to become a professional shopper at Mystery Shopping 101 on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. A variety of fitness classes are available including: Chi Kung on Mondays at 11 a.m.; Strengthen, Tone, and Stretch on Mondays at 9; Pilates on Mondays at 7:30 p.m.; Yoga, all levels, on Tuesdays at 9:45 a.m.; and Gentle Stretch Yoga for seniors on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. The library is located at 245 Lake Street. PTO hosts Monte Carlo Night The Upper Saddle River PTO will host its fall fundraiser, “A Night in Monte Carlo,” on Friday, Oct. 15.
