September 8, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 21 Allendale Notebook Memorial service planned The Borough of Allendale will hold its annual Sept. 11 candlelight memorial service on Saturday, Sept. 11 at 7:15 p.m. at the 9-11 Memorial site at the upper lake in Crestwood Park. Residents are asked to bring candles. In event of rain, the ceremony will be held in the red barn adjacent to the 9-11 Memorial. Chamber plans meeting The Allendale Chamber of Commerce will host a dinner meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 6:30 a.m. at the Allendale Bar and Grill, 67 West Allendale Avenue. Clothes Line Thrift Shop reopens The Clothes Line Thrift Shop will reopen Sept. 8 at 9 a.m. with coffee, bagels, and many new items and displays. The Clothes Line Thrift Shop will be open Wednesday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., and four Saturday sale days during the year. The Clothes Line Thrift shop is located in the Archer United Methodist Church at the corner of East Allendale Avenue and Franklin Turnpike in Allendale. For more information, call (201) 327-0020. Donations of fall and winter clothes will be accepted once the shop is open. Back to school service set Calvary Lutheran Church, 165 West Crescent Avenue, invites all students to its 10:45 a.m. worship service on Sunday, Sept. 12, with their school backpacks and other school bags to receive a special blessing. Any one who works for a school (public and private) is also invited to this special service to receive as well a special blessing. Friends are also invited. Current and topical books, tapes, and videos for adults and children may be purchased at bargain prices in the lobby of the Lee Memorial Library at 500 West Crescent Avenue in Allendale. On display are many children’s books, paperbacks, fiction, non-fiction, and current best-sellers. The sale is ongoing and the shelves are restocked daily. Books are priced from 25 cents to $1. The sale is sponsored by the Friends of the Library. Proceeds from the sale go directly to the library for the purchase of new materials. Crafters, antique cars sought for Festival Day The Allendale Chamber of Commerce is seeking crafters and antique cars for the 18th Annual Allendale Festival Day and Car Show.
