Join award-winning quilter/teacher Kathleen Davies for Piece a Quilt class. Davies will assist participants as they create a machine pieced table runner, wall hanging, or couch throw. The class runs for seven sessions beginning Sept. 16 from 7 to 9 p.m. The cost is $60. Bridge Club will meet on Mondays at 7 p.m. or Fridays at 10:30 a.m. beginning Sept. 13. Players are grouped by experience level. Pre-registration is required. Learn how to become a professional shopper at Mystery Shopping 101 on Tuesday, Sept. 28 at 7:30 p.m. A variety of fitness classes are available including: Chi Kung on Mondays at 11 a.m.; Strengthen, Tone, and Stretch on Mondays at 9; Pilates on Mondays at 7:30 p.m.; Yoga, all levels, on Tuesdays at 9:45 a.m.; and Gentle Stretch Yoga for seniors on Tuesdays at 11 a.m. The library is located at 245 Lake Street. Support group offered Church of the Presentation in Upper Saddle River is offering a support program for individuals who are going through separation or divorce or experiencing the end of a relationship. Participants will learn the process of change, communication, and self-awareness while discovering a path for human growth and self-esteem. Teams of trained facilitators will assist in coaching the emotions of grief, anger, guilt, loneliness, fear, anxiety, depression, forgiveness, and self-love. Sessions will begin on Monday, Sept. 20 and will continue through Nov. 22. The program will be held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. in the Gathering Room North. Upper Saddle River Day set Upper Saddle River Day 2010 is scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 11 at Lions Park. Festivities will held from 2 to 7 p.m. (Rain date: Sept. 12.) Food wristbands may be purchased in advance at the Upper Saddle River Library or at Upper Saddle River Borough Hall for $30 for a family up to six, $10 for an individual, and are free for seniors (age 62 and up) and children under six years of age. Tickets will be available the day of the event. Activities will include family games, face painting, carnival rides, stage performances, and fun for all. Newcomers Club to meet The Saddle River Valley Newcomers Club will hold its Kick Off meeting on Tuesday, Sept. 14. Beefsteak to benefit local family The Zion Lutheran Church in Saddle River is hosting a beefsteak fundraiser in the memory of Midland Park resident and church parishioner Greg Raffaelli on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 6:30 at the church, 96 East Allendale Road in Saddle River. In addition to the dinner, the event will include prizes, music, and a sale of baked goods. Tickets are $35 for adults; $15 for children ages five through 12. Lions plan benefit Golf Outing The Saddle River Valley Lions Club’s annual Golf Outing will be held Monday, Sept. 13 at the Falkirk Estate and Country Club in Central Valley, New York. This event has been renamed the Herb Bodensiek Golf Classic to honor the club’s longest serving member (over 40 years). The cost of $95 includes golf, cart, allyou-can-eat barbecue on the deck, prizes, and a donation to the club’s campaign to fight blindness. Golf willl begin at 9:30 a.m. and the barbecue and awards will be from 2 to 4 p.m. Prizes will be awarded in various categories. There will also be a contest with prizes and an auction.
