At right: Two folunteers take a break from their masonry work. A group of employees from Jacobsen Landscaping Company in Midland Park recently donated their own time and talent to The John Fell House in Allendale. The volunteers built a new barrier-free walkway, created a beautiful seating area, and repaired a brick wall, and steps. The house is located on Franklin Turnpike, across the street from the main entrance to the Celery Farm Natural Area. The house was home to John Fell, a Revolutionary War Patriot and supporter of American independence in the 1770s. He was arrested at his house in Allendale and imprisoned by the British in April of 1777 after winning a reputation as a loyal supporter of Congress during the early years of the Revolutionary War. He was freed after an exchange of prisoners in January of 1778 and paroled in May of that year. Fell was elected to the Second Continental Congress, which governed the new United States and served from December of 1778 (continued on page 25) Hair Care Family HARDING WINE&SPIRIT Wow!
