Fell House
(continued from page 7) to November of 1780. He was noted for his integrity, good attendance, and abstinence from partisan feuds. Fell also served in the government of the State of New Jersey during the later years of the war. He ultimately relocated to lower New York State and helped win ratification of the United States Constitution. Friends of the John Fell House recently blocked an attempt to raze the mansion and replace it with 11 condominiums. The group then applied for funding to buy the property and eventually restore it, and received most of the money they needed from New Jersey Green Acres and Bergen County Open Space grants. The organization’s Tea Committee recently accepted donations of tea service items for a planned tea room. Proceeds from the proposed tea room will also be dedicated to the restoration of the historial building.
