October 20, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 13 Emmanuel asks... Can You Help? Bash, call Laura Savage at (201) 612-8118 or e-mail laura@emmanuelcancer.org. This family needs your help: Six-yearold Emma is struggling with complications after having a brain tumor removed. She has developed a rare form of Parkinson’s disease as a result, and is on very expensive medications. This family is struggling financially to keep up with the cost of Emma’s medications and her numerous physical and speech therapy appointments. The family car, which is vital to transport Emma to her multiple appointments, needs new tires. This Bergen County family would also benefit from some gift cards to Sears Auto Center, STS Tires, or Firestone. Mia’s family still needs one more air purifier. Thank you to all who helped with this family’s other needs! Adopt-A-Family for the Holidays: ECF provides holiday gifts to the child with cancer and all of his or her siblings through our Wish List program. Help make a child’s holiday wishes come true. Please consider adopting a family this holiday season. You can help in a variety of ways. Turn your next event into a fundraiser by collecting checks or gift cards for ECF, or donate your restaurant or business for a few hours to host a fundraiser of your choice. Your efforts will help us to help families like Mia’s in many ways, including sending a caseworker to visit the families at their home or at the hospital. This support for the kids, their siblings and parents is crucial. Your donations also help to support ECF’s food pantry, which benefits our families. Kids can help us by hosting a Bake Sale, or another creative event. Can you help us put a brochure together? If you are interested in volunteering your time or donating an item for A Hollywood Members of the Friends of West Bergen Mental Healthcare gathered recently to kick-off the non-profit agency’s upcoming fundraiser. Some 600 tickets are expected to be sold at $50 each. First prize will be 25 percent of the proceeds, second prize will be 15 percent, and third prize will be 10 percent. The winners will be announced at A Fall Night of Fine Dining, set for Monday, Nov. 1 at the Indian Trail Club in Franklin Lakes. (Winners need not be present.) Funds raised will benefit the West Bergen Center for Children and Youth in Ramsey. The center provides counseling, therapy, and addiction treatment services for young people, ages two through 18, and their parents. For cash prize tickets and more information, call (201) 444-3550. For information on A Fall Night of Fine Dining, visit www.afallnight.com. We rely on the local community to help support our families. Many of them do not have the financial or emotional support to help them get through a major illness like cancer. Please remember: We do not charge anything for our services. We rely on you! We are also available to speak at your fundraiser or event and talk about our programs. If you have a few hours a week to spare, consider becoming a volunteer or just stop by and meet with us, take a look at our pantry, and see what ECF is all about. Volunteers are welcome to assist on Monday from 10 to 1, Wednesday from 1 to 5, and all day on Friday. Call us at (201) 612-8118 before you stop by. Please do not leave items at the center without checking with us first. Our storage space is limited. The Northern Regional Center is located at 174 Paterson Avenue, Midland Park, NJ 07432.
