Chamber to meet The Waldwick Chamber of Commerce will meet Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 8:30 a.m. at Massage Envy, 26 Franklin Turnpike, in Waldwick. The Waldwick Chamber meets on the third Wednesday of each month. All members are welcome to attend. Levy to discuss Halloween films Classic film expert Bill Levy will present “Silver Screen Nostalgia: Movies for Halloween” at the Waldwick Public Library on Wednesday, Oct. 27 at 7:30 p.m. The program will include a discussion of movies featuring ghosts, witches, and other spirits; trivia questions; and film clips from “I Married a Witch,” “The Canterville Ghost,” “Scared Stiff,” “Topper,” and “The Ghost and Mrs. Muir.” Levy writes “Forgotten Gems,” a column on the films of the 1930s, 1940s, and 1950s for the national periodical “Movie Collector’s World” and is a contributor to “Fifty Plus,” a monthly publication for seniors. Levy has a repertoire of more than 30 programs on the films and stars of Hollywood’s Golden Era. The program is free and open to the public; however, space is limited and advance registration is recommended. The library is located at 19 East Prospect Street in Waldwick. Halloween family night offered “Boooo-tacular” Family Fun will be held at In the Swing, 145 Hopper Avenue in Waldwick, on Oct. 30 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. The event will include the indoor playground, a Halloween craft, and 50 tokens per family for use in the arcade. The cost is $25 per family. Pizza pies and beverages will be available for $10. RSVP by calling (201) 444-3556 by Oct. 25. ‘Frankenstein’ screening includes new score The classic horror film, “Frankenstein,” starring Boris Karloff and Colin Clive, was released in 1931 without a musical soundtrack. On Tuesday, Oct. 26 at 7 p.m., Waldwick composer/producer Jay Dittamo will debut the musical score he created to accompany this dark tale of obsession, madness, and perverted science. The film, directed by James Whale, will be shown in its entirety. Dittamo has created music for television and motion pictures, and travels the world performing as a drummer/percussionist with dozens of musical groups. Vendors sought for Holiday Bazaar The Waldwick-based Crescent School PSO invites crafters and vendors to be part of the Holiday Bazaar set for Friday, Nov. 19. Holiday cake and pie fundraiser set The Friends of the Waldwick Library organization is offering gourmet cakes and pies for the holidays. The cakes and pies, provided by Carousel Cakes Bakery, are available at discount prices. These specialty desserts retail for $40 in gourmet shops, but can be ordered through the Waldwick Library at a cost of $15 per pie and $17 per cake. Black and white mousse, carrot, New York blackout, New York cheese, and mousse supreme are among the
cake offerings; pie selections include coconut custard, Toll House, pumpkin, pumpkin cheese, pecan, and a variety of fruit pies. Order forms, a catalogue of desserts, and other details are available at the library circulation desk. The deadline for placing orders for Thanksgiving is Saturday, Nov.13 for pickup on Nov. 23; the deadline for placing orders for Christmas is Saturday, Dec. 11 for a Dec. 22 pickup. The Country Fair will feature jewelry, gift baskets, pickles and cheese, chocolates, baked goods, collectibles, needles and pins, and a craft cottage.
