October 13, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 9 The newly revitalized Ho-Ho-Kus Chamber of Commerce invites the community to attend its Sidewalk Sale Days, also known as the Break in the Sidewalk Sale, which will be held Oct. 15 and 16 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., rain or shine. The streetscape work in downtown Ho-Ho-Kus is just about wrapped up, but the colors the construction crews Chamber invites all to ‘Break in the Sidewalk Sale’ brought to the shopping and dining district will remain for the next few weeks and beyond. Orange cones and barrels have been replaced by pumpkins. The yellow and white trucks and heavy equipment have been replaced by mums of the same hues. Everyone is invited to come out to see the new sidewalk, and enjoy time shopping, dining, and socializing with 10-13-10 janine HoHoKusSidewalkBanner(10-13-10) 6 x 1” Photographer Jeffrey Steccato (pictured at right), Master Photographer receives national award owner of Haviland Studio in Ho-Ho-Kus, has received the Professional Photographers of America’s national award, the highest honor granted by a PPA affiliate, in recognition of his support of photography, going far beyond any regular expectations or contributions to his profession. “Jeff is an all around nice guy, he always has a smile and gives freely of his time and talent,” said PPA of New Jersey President Frank Patterson. “He has had much success with State and National Print competitions, and among his many accolades are several distinguished Courts of Honors, Judges Choice Awards, and the prestigious Kodak Gallery Award. Fifty shops will be showcasing sale items on the sidewalk, with a number of restaurants offering lunch specials. Some participating merchants will donate 10 percent of their proceeds from the sale to Go4theGoal, the local nonprofit organization that supports Richards Run. This spring, the Ho-Ho-Kus Chamber of Commerce put out a call to local business professionals, who were invited to attend a meeting and help revitalize the Chamber. Charles “Chip” Gildea, who was the organization’s founding president some 20 years ago, said the organization had never disbanded, but he wanted to encourage local business owners to regain their enthusiasm as improvements progress in the borough’s downtown business district. The group’s next meeting will be held Oct. 13 at 6 p.m. at the ambulance corps building adjacent to borough hall.
