Halloween poster contest & parade planned Allendale children in preschool through eighth grade are invited to participate in the Annual Halloween Poster Painting Contest and the Halloween Parade sponsored by the Allendale Holiday Observers. The Poster Painting Contest will be held Oct. 16 at the Red Barn at Crestwood Lake from 7:30 a.m. to noon. (Rain date: Oct. 23.) First-, second-, and third-place
winners will be named in each age group. All posters will be displayed later that afternoon in the Allendale storefronts. At that time, students from pre-school through eighth grade are invited to show off their costumes. Judging will be for best costumes, group costumes, and parent/child combo. Cash prizes will be awarded to those with the best costumes. Complimentary candy, snacks, drinks, and a light meal will be served after the ceremony, and posters will be available for pick up in the cafeteria. Chamber plans meeting The Allendale Chamber of Commerce will host a luncheon meeting on Tuesday, Oct. 19 at noon at the Allendale Community for Mature Living/The Atrium, 85 Harreton Road in Allendale. Enter off Route 17 South. Allendale businesses that are interested in joining the Chamber may contact Nicolette Lisella of Terrie O’Connor Realtors at (201) 638-6765. Community Night to benefit AFEE The Allendale Foundation for Educational Excellence will host its Fourth Annual Community Night Out Oct. 18 and 19 at the Allendale Bar and Grill, 67 West Allendale Avenue. Participants should mention AFEE when ordering lunch or dinner and the foundation will receive a generous percentage of the day’s profits. This year, the menu will include the AFEE Burger of the Week. Take out orders will be included. All funds generated during this two-day event will directly benefit Allendale Schools through AFEE’s enrichment programs. Share this event with grandparents, neighbors, and friends from out of town. This is a great way to have a family meal together while giving back to the community. For more information, contact Gwen Keeble at (201) 327-7720 or gwenkeeble@optonline.net.
