Auxiliary hosts Holiday Luncheon & Boutique The Saddle River Valley Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host its Annual Holiday Luncheon & Boutique at the Ridgewood Country Club on Tuesday, Dec. 7 from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Enjoy lunch while shopping for the holidays with vendors including Neiman Marcus, Hamrah’s, Little Nikki’s and more. Featured items will include costume jewelry, handbags, scarves, holiday decorations, and more. A gold buyer will be on hand, so attendees may bring gold jewelry they may want to sell. The cost is $55 per person and includes lunch, beverages, valet parking, and coat check. Groups discuss ‘The Family Man’ “The Family Man” will be the topic of discussion at both book groups of the Upper Saddle River Library. The Novels at Night group will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 1 at 7:30 p.m., and Coffee Talk will meet on Dec. 9 at 10:30 a.m. Copies of the book may be picked up at the circulation desk. Friends plan Holiday Boutique The Friends of the Upper Saddle River Library will host a Holiday Boutique on Saturday, Dec. 4 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. A large variety of handmade items will be available. Support group to meet LifeLines, a supportive and informative resource for prostate cancer patients and their partners in northern Bergen County, will meet Tuesday, Nov. 23 from 7:30 to 9 p.m. at the Church of the Presentation, 271 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River. The group was formed by prostate cancer patients to share information and experience about available treatment and service resources. Special needs basketball offered For the first time, the Upper Saddle River Basketball Association is offering a structured, small group basketball clinic for special needs children in grades two and three. Clinics will be held on Sundays at 9 a.m. for an hour in the Reynolds School gym. The players will warm up, run drills, and scrimmage each other. Built-in breaks and other accommodations will be made. Each participant will require a parent shadow for all clinics. All players will receive a T-shirt. District offers preschool openings The Upper Saddle River school district has announced six general educational openings in the Integrated Preschool Program for September 2011. The Integrated Preschool Program is a nursery school program that incorporates the education of special education children with general education preschoolers. The program is held at Reynolds School. All children in the program attend five half-days a week from 8:30 to 11 a.m. The first 15 applicants will be screened in early December; other applicants will be placed on a waiting list. The six openings will be offered by Dec. 22. The current tuition is $3,750; the tuition for 2011-12 will be determined in June 2011. To be eligible, a general education student must be four years of age on or before Oct. 1, 2011. A birth certificate, copy of immunizations, and four proofs of residency will be required. The application deadline is Nov. 30. Applications for general education students may be obtained at usrschoolsk8.com or by calling Reynolds School at (201) 9616300. Club welcomes new members, hosts events The Saddle River Valley Newcomers Club welcomes all residents from Saddle River and Upper Saddle River, regardless of the length of their residency. Activities
