‘Healthy Town’
(continued from page 6) encourage residents of all ages to become active. Councilwoman and former president of the Upper Saddle River Board of Health, Joanne Minichetti, explained, “Mayor Gabbert has enjoyed walking for exercise for many years and wears a pedometer daily to record his steps. When we decided to offer a program for the Mayors Wellness Campaign, the idea of providing a pedometer with a walking log to record progress seemed ideal. Residents and borough employees at all levels of fitness can participate and reap the benefits of regular exercise. We also encourage Scout troops or clubs to register for the program. There is no fee for participation, and registration is still available at borough hall.” Other municipalities that have received the MWC Healthy Town designation include Bridgewater, Clifton, Fair Lawn, Hamilton Township (Mercer County), Hillsborough, Madison, Nutley, Parsippany, and Woodbridge.
