November 17, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 21 Ho-Ho-Kus Jottings Auxiliary plans Holiday House Tour The Ho-Ho-Kus Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will host a Holiday House Tour featuring six Ho-Ho-Kus homes decorated for the holidays and open for viewing on Thursday, Dec. 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There will be a Santa Boutique featuring handmade original Santas, hand-painted ornaments and wine glasses, and unique charms. A boxed lunch will be available at the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn to pick up and take away or take a break and enjoy it there. Lunch must be preordered at time of ticket purchase for and additional $15. Open House, registration announced The Ho-Ho-Kus/Waldwick Cooperative Nursery School will hold its annual Open House on Friday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents and their preschoolers are invited to stop in to see the classrooms and meet with the teachers and current members. Classes for two-, three-, and four-yearolds are currently available for the 201112 school year. The nursery school offers various educational enrichment programs including music and Spanish. Extended day options are also available. The school offers a co-op opportunity for those who wish to assist in the classroom. Registration opens to the public on Dec. 3. Current and former member registration will be Nov. 19 and 29, respectively. The school is located at 400 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus. Harvest Sunday Food Drive set Saint Bartholomew’s Church in HoHo-Kus will host its Harvest Sunday Food Drive on Nov. 21 with gifts of food for those in need. The collection will be delivered to the Ramapough Mountain Indians in Mahwah and families in need. Donations of food may be left at the church on Saturday, Nov. 20. Champagne & Candlelight event slated The Hermitage Museum, located at 335 North Franklin Turnpike in Ho-Ho-Kus, will host a festive evening of “Champagne & Candlelight” on Thursday, Dec. 9 from 6 to 9 p.m. to usher in this year’s holiday season. The evening will begin with a champagne reception inside this historical Victorian home. The Ho-Ho-Kus Garden Club will decorate the house in a “Light up the Holidays” theme. Each room will be distinctively decorated. Following the reception, visitors will enjoy specialty foods and live entertainment next door in the museum’s education building. Visitors will be treated to a live presentation by the North River Colonial Dance Troupe. Performers in full period dress will demonstrate a variety of Early American dances. Visitors will be encouraged to join in and learn these dance steps. Admission is $50 per person, and advance reservations are recommended. Proceeds from Champagne & Candlelight will help fund the museum’s educational programs for children. Work session canceled Due to a conflict with the annual League of Municipalities Convention, the Ho-HoKus Council has canceled its November work session, which was scheduled for Tuesday, Nov. 16. A combination work session and public session will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 23. Meetings begin at 8 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Chiropractors feed county’s hungry Family practice chiropractors across the country are banding together to “Pack the Pantry for the Hungry” and support needy families in their communities. Many of the nation’s 60,000-plus chiropractors will accept food donations for the hungry while providing free health services and evaluations. Through Nov. 19, Family Wellness Center in Ho-Ho-Kus will host a “Pack the Pantry for the Hungry” event. The public is invited to attend during regular business hours and take advantage of free health and wellness information, free spinal screenings, and chiropractic care in exchange for 10 canned non-perishable food items. Donations of canned food are welcome whether you want to receive free health services or not. Proceeds from “Pack the Pantry for the Hungry” will benefit Center for Food Action. Club to hold Open House A modern windmill farm is the latest innovation to appear on the Ramapo Valley Railroad Club’s model train layout. The club welcomes the community to view its layout at the annual Holiday Open House set for Nov. 21 and 28, and Dec. 5, 12, and 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Admission to the show is $4 for adults and $1 for children under the age of 12, with a maximum of $10 per family.
