Featured in the exhibit are a variety of finely crafted puzzles, toys, whimsy boxes, and a cutting board that could double as a dramatic wall hanging. The eco-friendly, child-safe toys include rattles, cars, trucks, helicopters, a freight train with a caboose, and a tool box equipped with a hammer, wrench, saw, pliers, and other tools fashioned of exotic woods in a variety of hues. Giordano learned the craft of woodworking from his father, who was a cabinetmaker. Supporting renewable and sustainable environmental practices, the Waldwick resident uses wood milled to usable sizes from forests that have controlled harvesting and from scrap recycling. Some pieces in the exhibit are made from just one species of wood, while others feature a mix of common, exotic, and other woods lending these items’ color and texture. Giordano enjoys the challenge of laminating, marquetry, and inlays to create unique pieces. The library is located at 19 East Prospect Street. Hours are Monday through Thursday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. For more information call (201) 652-5104. The cost of the vaccine is $25 and is payable by cash or check; receipts will be provided. The vaccine is available at no charge for those with Medicare Part B.
