November 10, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 17 Ho-Ho-Kus Jottings Historical Society plans Holiday High Tea The Ho-Ho-Kus Historical Association will host a Holiday High Tea at the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn and Tavern, 1 Franklin Turnpike, Ho-Ho-Kus, on Tuesday, Dec. 7. A four-course high tea will be served in the Crystal Room from 1 to 4 p.m. and will include soup and scones, quiche and salad, assorted finger sandwiches, and a selection of desserts and teas. The event will feature a harpist, Ho-HoKus memorabilia, and Victorian vignettes. Tickets are $45. Seating is limited. To reserve a seat, call Kathleen Moran at (201) 445-4115. Holiday Bazaar set The Ho-Ho-Kus Community Church will hold its Holiday Bazaar on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This annual event will feature two floors of activities, and vendors with traditional holiday favorites, including Christmas ornaments, poinsettias and wreaths, handmade crafts, baked goods, preserves and jellies, a book stall, a café, and musical entertainment. There will also be a prize basket fundraiser. Young visitors may talk with Santa and stop by the children’s craft center. An auction featuring vacation packages in Cape Cod, Vermont, Egg Harbor, and San Francisco and other prizes will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Admission is free. For information, call (201) 4456310. Municipal calendar correction The 2010 Ho-Ho-Kus municipal calendar indicates that Nov. 10 is Veterans Day. It should state that Veterans Day is Thursday, Nov. 11. Borough offices, the department of public works, the recycling center, and the library will be closed on Nov. 11. Work session canceled Due to a conflict with the annual League of Municipalities Convention, the Ho-Ho-Kus Council has canceled its November work session, which was set for Tuesday, Nov. 16. A combination work session and public session will be held Nov. 23. Meetings begin at 8 p.m. unless otherwise noted. Lebeaux to perform at Cabaret Night New York Cabaret singer Annie Lebeaux will entertain with “rare and ridiculous” vaudeville songs at the Woman’s Club of Ho-Ho-Kus’ Cabaret Night on Saturday, Nov. 13. The 6 p.m. event will be held at Saint Bartholomew’s Church Hall on Sheridan Avenue. Tickets are $20 and proceeds will be donated to local charities. Call Pamela at (201) 652-2236. The GFWC Woman’s Club of Ho-Ho-Kus is a member of the New Jersey State Federation of Women’s Clubs of GFWC, which was founded in 1894 and has been headquartered on the Douglass Residential Campus, formerly Douglass College, in New Brunswick since 1966. The federation is a member of the General Federation of Women’s Clubs, the oldest and largest nonpartisan, nondenominational women’s volunteer service organization in the world. Opportunities are provided to women in education, leadership training and community service through participation in local clubs. Ditkoff, a board certified ophthalmologist and a fellow of the American Academy of Ophthalmology, is the corneal surgeon for the Eye Care Center of New Jersey. He performs corneal transplants and specializes in laser vision correction procedures, which surgically reshape the cornea. He also regularly performs cataract, glaucoma, and eyelid surgery. He is a partner at The Eye Care Center, where he has been in practice since 1994. Ditkoff attended public school in Long Island, where he participated in many activities, including soccer, wrestling, baseball, band, orchestra, and student government. After high school, he was accepted to the City University of New York’s seven-year accelerated BS/MD program. This program integrated undergraduate school with medical school and accepted only 60 people per year. He received his doctor of medicine degree cum laude from the State University of New York Health Science Center at Syracuse, School of Medicine. He completed an ophthalmology residency at Albert Einstein/Montefiore, a fellowship in cornea and laser vision correction at Albany Medical Center, and his internal medicine residency at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York. In the community, he has coached various sports, working on the baseball board, being involved with the Lions Club, and volunteering for the Cub Scouts, The Dick Meighan Run, and other events and organizations. Dr. Hafner has been a general dentist for 20 years and has lived in Upper Saddle River for the past 42 years. He attended the Upper Saddle River elementary schools before moving on to Don Bosco High School. He later received a bachelor’s degree in biology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison and his DMD from Fairleigh S. Dickinson Jr. College of Dental Medicine. He opened his dental practice in 1989. From November 1989 through May 1999, Dr. Hafner worked with the New Jersey Mobile Dental Practice, treating patients with disabilities, geriatrics, and patients in trauma centers. From 1999 through 2006, the doctor was an associate professor at Bergen Community College, where he taught students in clinic and classroom settings.
