Veseli and his brother Adam own Mezza Luna, and Ed’s son Ronnie is the manager. The family had owned a location in Glen Rock for 14 years before they moved into Allendale. Some area residents may also know the Veselis from their sister restaurant, Mezza Notte, which is located in Fair Lawn. Veseli said he likes the Allendale area and the local residents. The feeling is mutual: When Mezza Luna’s new location opened a few weeks ago, the restaurant was busy immediately. Mezza Luna offers $9.95 complete lunch specials that include soup, salad, a choice of various entrees, and coffee. Lunch special entrees include liguini carbonara, grilled chicken with Caesar salad, eggplant parmigiana, veal marsala, broiled sole, salmon piccata, and many others. Lunch party packages begin at $13.95. For dinner, the restaurant offers hot Ed and Adam of Mezza Luna. Mezza Luna Bistro Ristorante, located at 95 West Allendale Avenue in Allendale, recently opened a second location just across the street at 96 West Allendale Avenue. Owner Ed Veseli explained that the new location represents a new opportunity for Mezza Luna to offer more to the community. “We are keeping our original location for parties of all types: Christenings, business meetings, showers, weddings, anniversary parties, and business meetings,” Veseli said. “Our new location still has the same menu and the same owners, but it’s bigger and there is a large parking lot in the back.” appetizers, including fried calamari, zuppa di mussels, and mushrooms stuffed with crab. Cold appetizer selections include seafood salad, mozzarella luciana, and clams on the half shell. The menu features homemade pasta dishes such as cheese ravioli, fettucini alfredo, tortellini alla figlia (with prosciutto, onions, mushrooms, peas, cream, basil, Romano and Parmesan cheeses), rigatoni quarto formaggi, and “Pappardele Mezza Luna,” which is made with asparagus, shallots, cream, and tomato. Chicken dishes are served many ways, including francese, sorrentino, rollatini, arabiata, and parmigiana. The house specialty, Chicken Mezza Luna, is stuffed with shrimp, spinach, and cheese and sautéed with wild mushrooms in a brandy sauce. Mezza Luna also serves veal sorrentino, made with eggplant, prosciutto, and cheese; veal limone; and veal genovese, made with creamy cognac sauce and Portobello mushrooms.
