Learn about college admissions, aid A program to aid parents and high school students in the college admissions process will be offered Saturday, June 5 at 10 a.m. at Lee Memorial Library in Allendale. Learn the most current tips on how to help a high school student maximize acceptance opportunities, how to find financial aid, and how to de-stress the college search and application process. UCLA-certified college advisor Carolee Gravina will present this hour of trends and strategies that will make a difference in navigating the college admissions process. Gravina, a trustee of the Northern Highlands Regional High School Board of Education, is a Yale graduate, published children’s author, and parent of two college students. An active member of the Higher Educational Consultants Association, she visits over 30 college campuses annually. The Insider Tips session is recommended for parents of high school freshmen, sophomores, and juniors and is free to the public. Allendale Notebook Book drive planned Northern Highland’s National Honor Society is collecting gently used books for the Knowledge is Power Program School in Harlem, New York. Books are needed for readers at any level. KIPP helps bright inner-city children from low-income families further their education. Insufficient funding has left the library without enough books for these students. As the competition began, the Skyhawks were sitting in a fourth-place tie with 11 points along with the University of Kentucky. Sophomore Nina Crossley of Ho-Ho-Kus, a graduate of Northern Highlands High School, posted a first place finish out of 19 riders in the team walk-trot-canter equitation to earn seven points for Stonehill on day one.
