This year’s program, “Galactic Blast: A Cosmic Adventure Praising God,” will run from 9 a.m. to noon. All children are welcome at this interdenominational Christian program. Camp participants will board the starship Galactic Praise to see the universe and God in a whole new way. Each day’s galactic mission includes Bible adventures in the Good News Galaxy, music at Moons & Tunes, art projects at Cosmic Crafts, games at Rocket Rec, and a snack at the Astro Bistro. Preschool children will enjoy a special program designed just for them. The cost for the week is $25 for Bergen Highlands children, and $35 for all others. Friends plan author luncheon Author and interior designer Scott Sanders will speak at the 2010 Designer Showhouse of New Jersey on Monday, May 24. Art exhibit and reception planned An exhibit of Upper Saddle River artists’ work will be held during the month of May at the borough’s library, 245 Lake Street. Lions announce car fundraiser The Saddle River Valley Lions Club’s annual car fundraiser is underway. This year’s prize is a “Red Candy” 2010 Ford Mustang Premium Sports Package V6 Coupe. Tickets are $10 and are available from any SRV Lions Club Member or at the Lions’ annual carnival, which will be held May 31 and through June 5. The carnival and car fundraiser are the club’s two major fundraising events of the year. Wristband Nights, featuring one price for all rides all night, will be held on Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. The winner of the car will be announced at 10 p.m. on Saturday night. The carnival opens at 4 p.m. Net proceeds from the car fundraiser and carnival benefit Saddle River Valley Lions Charities, Inc. Over the last 52 years, this organization has donated over $1,759,000 to the blind and visually impaired, other health-related charities, local volunteer organizations, student scholarships and youth recreation activities. Motorcycle Club and Zion Lutheran Church at 96 East Allendale Road, Saddle River, will host the Children’s Quality of Life Ride Charity Bike Blessing and Motorcycle Run on Sunday, June 6. Participants may sign in from 9 to 11 a.m. The blessing will begin at 11:30 a.m. The run, which is police escorted, will leave at noon from Zion Lutheran Church, 96 East Allendale Avenue, and return to this location.
