The outfit earned the Allendale firefighters the nickname “silk stocking boys.” Today the department’s ranks include 60 active members, including three women: Megan Schute, Dana Rago, Volunteers and Amanda Gonzalez. Over the years, the members of the department have helped the community in many ways. In addition to battling blazes in Allendale and the surrounding communities through the mutual aid program, members of the local fire department have also given blood to aid a fellow fire fighter’s relative, visited the local schools, conducted programs that impart life-saving information, and carry out regular inspections to ensure Congratulations, Allendale Fire Department!
