Graduating seniors who reside in Upper Saddle River, Saddle River, Allendale, Ho-Ho-Kus, Mahwah, or Waldwick are invited to apply for a $1,500 scholarship, which will be awarded to a student in good academic standing who has made a difference in his or her community and gone the extra mile to help others. “The Dick Meighan Memorial Run Committee is proud to offer the seventh annual Dick Meighan Extra Mile Scholarship,” said Elizabeth O’Sullivan, who runs the scholarship program with fellow Upper Saddle River resident Sean Bookstaver. “As in past years, if funds permit, we will most likely make additional grants to

two other deserving applicants. In these challenging economic times, every bit helps toward a college education.” A committee will select the best qualified applicant based upon a written application, scholastic academic record, and participation in community and/or school activities. The Spring Fashion Show held at Neiman Marcus in Paramus by the Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club was a sold out event. Proceeds were donated to the New Jerseybased, The Valerie Fund. The fund provides medical treatments, counseling, and development activities for children with cancer and serious blood disorders. Attendees enjoyed champagne and hors d’oeuvres, while runway models sported the latest spring lines of clothing, shoes, and accessories. Grand prizes included a Gucci handbag and sunglasses.
