May 5, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • Page 13 Saddle River Valley Notes Garden Club hosts Annual Plant Sale The Saddle River Garden Club will host its Annual Plant Sale, on Saturday, May 15 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bishop House, 176 East Saddle River Road, Saddle River. This is the club’s major fundraiser. A members’ sale will be held May 8 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bishop House. The club will hold its next regular meeting on Tuesday, May 18 at 7 p.m. at Jacobsen Landscape Design Gallery, 11 Barnstable Court, Saddle River. Woman’s Club plans events The Woman’s Club of Upper Saddle River will hold its annual Baby Shower on May 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Savini Restaurant in Allendale. All are welcome. Donations of baby clothing or accessories for infants up to size 2T will be donated to a shelter for battered women. This spring, members of the club will be volunteering at the Designer Show House of New Jersey, a benefit for the Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center. This event will run through June 6. The show house is located at 4 High Meadow Road in Saddle River. Anyone interested in volunteering is invited to call (201) 669-0833. Shifts are from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 1 to 4 p.m. Used Book Sale set The Friends of the Upper Saddle River Library will host a sale of used books on Saturday, May 8 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. The shelves are well stocked with fiction and non-fiction, including gardening books, classics, and cookbooks, all at bargain prices. Learn to grow herbs Jacobsen Landscape Design will present a program about growing herbs for healthy living at the Upper Saddle River Library, 245 Lake Street, on Wednesday, May 5 at 7:30 p.m. Learn how to select herbs, the types of soil to use, water needs, light requirements, garden design, proper care and harvesting, and more. Beatles cover band to perform Zion Lutheran Church, located at 96 East Allendale Road in Saddle River, will present the Mystical Majesty Band on Sunday, June 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. The doors to Fellow- ship Hall will be open for outdoor seating. Attendees can bring lawn chairs. Admission to the concert is free.
