MPCRC sets services Midland Park Christian Reformed Church at 183 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park will celebrate Holy Week with services on Good Friday at 7:30 p.m. This worship service will include special choral music. On Easter Sunday, April 4, there will be a 9:30 a.m. worship service with the Hallelujah Chorus and a 6 p.m. worship service. Nurseries are provided at all services. For more information, call (201) 445-4260. Holy Week at Nativity The Church of the Nativity in Midland Park will celebrate Holy Week with several services. Holy Thursday, April 1, will start with morning prayer at 8:30 a.m. in the chapel. The Feast of the Lord’s Supper will begin at 7:30 p.m. and Exposition and Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament from 9 p.m. to midnight in the chapel. Note that there will not be a 12:10 p.m. service on Holy Thursday. On Good Friday, April 2, morning prayers in the chapel will be at 8:30 a.m. Family Stations of the Cross, held outdoors if weather permits, will begin at 11 a.m. The Liturgy of the Lord’s Passion and Death will be at 3 p.m., and the Living Stations of the Cross at 7:30 p.m. in the church. There will not be a 12:10 p.m. service on Good Friday. On Holy Saturday, April 3, there will be morning prayers at 8:30 a.m. The Easter Vigil will be held at 8:15 p.m. with the Blessing of the New Fire and Baptismal Water. There will not be a 5 p.m. Mass on Holy Saturday.

Holy Cross announces services Holy Cross Lutheran Church – LCMS is celebrating Holy Week with the following scheduled services. On April 1, there will be a service with Holy Communion at 7:30 p.m. A Good Friday Tenebrae service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on April 2. The Easter Sunday (April 4) sunrise service will begin at 7 a.m. with an Easter breakfast immediately following. The second seating for the Easter breakfast will be at 9:30 a.m. The second service will begin at 10:15 a.m. with special music, and the worship service will begin at 10:30 a.m. with the story of the resurrection as recorded by Saint Luke. The service will include a children’s message on the real Easter, and Holy Communion. The church is located at the corner of West Ramapo Avenue and Route 202 south at 125 Glasgow Terrace, Mahwah. Grace United celebrates Holy Week Grace United Methodist Church in Wyckoff invites everyone to experience “Grace at Easter.” There will be a live reenactment of Last Supper on Holy Thursday, April 1 at 8 p.m. and Holy Communion. Also planned for Holy Thursday is a special service in the chapel at noon. A Service of Tenebrae will be held on Good Friday, April 2 at 8 p.m. Traditional services on Easter Sunday, April 4, will be at 9 and 11 a.m. There will also be a contemporary service at 9 a.m.

Allendale churches walk in Jesus’ footsteps On Friday, April 2, beginning at noon, the Allendale Community of Churches invites the public to its annual Good Friday Worship Service, “The Way of the Christ’s Passion” Devotional Walk. This year’s walk will begin at Guardian Angel Roman Catholic Church, 320 Franklin Turnpike, and end in the sanctuary of Archer United Methodist Church, 37 East Allendale Avenue. Participating churches include Archer United Methodist, Calvary Lutheran, Guardian Angel, Highlands Presbyterian, The Plant, and Trinity Episcopal. The members of Zion Lutheran Church in Saddle River will also share in this event. Patterned after the Stations of the Cross, a procession of people, led by a large, roughly hewn cross, will follow a prescribed route through the middle of Allendale. Along the route, the procession will stop at 14 different locations or “stations” for scripture reading and prayer. Many of the lay readers and leaders of this event are youth from each congregation. These 14 stations will recall the events of Christ’s suffering and death and their contemporary implications. At the last station, a monetary offering will be accepted on behalf of the Center for Food Action. People of all ages are welcome to participate in this community spiritual event. Methodist church celebrates Holy Week Midland Park United Methodist Church will celebrate Holy Week with services on Maundy Thursday, April 1 with a 7:30 p.m. service where the Last Supper of Jesus and his disciples is commemorated at the traditional Table of Twelve Communion Liturgy. A Tenebrae service of light and darkness will be held at 7:30 p.m. There will also be
an Ecumenical Good Friday service by all churches in Midland Park at Christian Reformed Church from noon to 3 p.m. On Easter Sunday, April 4, the Easter worship service will be held at 10 a.m. Midland Park United Methodist Church is located at 269 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park. Community invited to Calvary Lutheran Calvary Lutheran Church invites the community to its worship services during Holy Week and Easter. On Maundy Thursday, April 1, a solemn service of Holy Communion will be held at 7:30 p.m. At this service, the sanctuary will be left bare of any adornments as a further preparation for Holy Week. On April 2, a Good Friday Children’s Service will be offered at 10 a.m. At noon, Calvary will participate in the Allendale Community “Way of Christ’s Passion” Devotional Walk, which will begin at Archer United Methodist Church. At 7:30 p.m. the Service of Tenebrae (“Shadows”) will include a dramatic reading of Jesus’ suffering and death on the cross. On Easter Sunday, April 4, the Hi League Youth Group will hold its annual “SonRise” Service at 7:30 a.m., with an Easter Breakfast following from 8:15 to 9:15 a.m. Reservations are needed; call (201) 327-4786 or calvarylutheran@verizon.net. During the breakfast, an Easter Egg Hunt for children will be held. At 10 a.m., a Festive Service of Holy Communion will be offered. Both the special music will be offered by both the Senior Choir and Youth Choir. Calvary is located at 165 West Crescent Avenue in Allendale. Barrier-free access is available. Saint Bartholomew’s offers Seder & services Saint Bartholomew’s Church in Ho-Ho-Kus will begin its Holy Week activities at 6:30 p.m. on Maundy Thursday, April 1, with its annual Passover Seder Supper. This traditional Passover Feast will include symbolic foods, prayers, scripture readings, and a menu featuring leg of lamb with side dishes and desserts prepared according to Biblical recipes. St. Bartholomew’s Good Friday service will be at 2 p.m. on April 2; a Great Vigil service will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 3; and a Holy Eucharist service is set for 10 a.m. on Easter Sunday, April 4.
