School board to meet The Allendale Board of Education will meet on Wednesday, March 31 at 8 p.m. This session will include the public hearing for the tentative 2010-11 school budget. Information on the budget and the programs and services it provides is available in the Allendale Board of Education office at 100 Brookside Avenue. Fell House will be open to public The Concerned Citizens of Allendale, the group of residents who recently purchased the John Fell House, will open the venerable building to the public on Sunday, March 28. Music offered at AUMC services Archer United Methodist Church will offer special music by the Archer Hand Bell Choir at the 10:30 a.m. Palm Sunday Service on March 28. AFEE accepting grant proposals The Allendale Foundation for Educational Excellence, Inc. will be accepting grant proposals through April 26. Parents, teachers, local business people, students,
staff, and all other members of the community are encouraged to participate in making proposals for projects or programs that are in keeping with the foundation’s mission, which is to enhance and broaden the educational experience of all students attending Allendale’s Hillside and Brookside schools. Cash for Gold event set The Allendale Woman’s Club has planned two Cash for Gold fundraisers. The first event, which is open to the general public, will be held during the March 31 Fashion Show pre-registration at Allendale Borough Hall from 1 to 5 p.m. A representative from American Gold & Diamond Buyers will be on hand to give a free appraisal and immediate cash for gold, silver, diamonds, wristwatches, estate jewelry, and more. Admission is free. All participants must be at least 18 years of age and must present a valid driver’s license for identification. A second opportunity to turn unwanted items into cash will be offered to all attendees of the Allendale Woman’s Club Fashion Show on April 7 at Seasons. Buyers will be on hand during the cocktail hour from 6:30 to 8 p.m. to offer appraisals. Anyone planning to have jewelry appraised during the show must register in advance by contacting Lynn Ullman. The April 7 “Fashion with Heart” show is a benefit for Valley Hospital’s Center for Women’s Heart Health and other local
charities. The evening will begin at 6:30 p.m. at Seasons of Washington Township and will feature a cocktail reception with an open bar and gourmet dinner, a special auction and gift basket prizes, and the latest fashions. Candidate to address Republicans The Allendale Republican Club will meet March 23 at 7:30 p.m. in the council chambers of the Allendale Municipal Building, 500 East Crescent Avenue. PBA hosts Easter Egg Hunt The Allendale/Waldwick PBA Local #217 will host its 16th Annual Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday, March 27 at the Waldwick High School turf football field. The rain date is Saturday, April 3. The
event is open to Allendale and Waldwick children through the fifth grade. The hunt will begin at 10 a.m. and continue until all the eggs have been found. Children will be divided into the following categories: toddler through kindergarten, first through third grade, and fourth and fifth grade. Admission is free. Children should bring a basket to hold the eggs. Parents are reminded to bring cameras, as the Easter Bunny will also make an appearance.
