‘Seussical Junior’ to be performed Cavallini Middle School, located at 392 West Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, will present “Seussical Jr.” to the community on Tuesday, March 23 at 3 p.m. in the school auditorium. The public is invited to enjoy the adventures of characters such as Jojo, The Cat in the Hat, and Horton the Elephant in Dr. Seuss’ wonderful imaginary world filled with song and dance. Sewing class offered Learn to sew clothing for a popular line of dolls at the Saddle River Valley Cultural Center, 305 West Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, on Friday, March 12 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Zion hosts Pastor Bob Stagg The annual Theologian in Residence program at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 96 East Allendale Road, Saddle River, will feature guest speaker Pastor Bob Stagg of The Church of the Presentation. Father Stagg will present “Transforming Our Spirituality in the Church and the World” in the two-day program set for Saturday, March 13 for two sessions at 3 and 4:30 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. and on Sunday, March 14 at 12:30 p.m. with a light lunch. USR Educational Foundation to host gala The Upper Saddle River Educational Foundation will be holding its seventh annual Gala Dinner Dance, Town Night Out, on Friday, March 19 at the Estate at Florentine Gardens in River Vale. The evening will be a communitywide celebration. It will be a lavish cocktail party featuring international food stations, premium open bar, Viennese table, music, and fabulous fundraisers. All proceeds will benefit the students in kindergarten through grade eight in Upper Saddle River. Tickets are on sale now and are $230 per couple or $115 per person. USREF will be honoring the 2010 recipient of the USREF Award for Educational Excellence. The award is given annually to an Upper Saddle River resident who has demonstrated a long-term commitment to the community and significant civic leadership. Garden Club offers scholarship The Saddle River Garden Club is offering a $1,000 academic scholarship to a student who is planning to study environmental sciences, conservation, architectural design,
horticulture, or botany and resides in Bergen County. There is no age limit, and returning students are encouraged to apply. Singles plan events Singles from The Church of the Presentation, 271 West Saddle River Road in Upper Saddle River, have planned a hike at Bear Mountain for March 14, (rain date: March 21). The group will meet at 10 a.m. in the church parking lot to carpool. Participants are encouraged to dress for the weather and should bring water, snacks, towels, etc. Lunch will follow at the Fireside Inn in Stony Point, NY. RSVP to cynthiagjoyce@gmail.com. Events for June 6 include a Harriman hike with lunch at the Mason Jar. Annual Plant Sale underway The Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club has begun taking orders for its Annual Plant Sale. There will be a great selection of annuals, perennials, herbs, and hanging baskets. Orders are due by April 3. Plants will be available on Saturday, May 8, which is the day before Mother’s Day. The hanging baskets and patio planter make great Mother’s Day gifts. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to various organizations and charities within the community. Tennis Permits available for 2010 Tennis permits for the use of the USR tennis courts, located on West Saddle River Road in front of Reynolds School, will be available beginning Monday, March 29 at borough hall.
