March Madness Men’s Night set The Allendale Newcomers Club will hold its annual March Madness Men’s Night Out at Allendale Bar and Grill on Thursday, March 18 from 7 to 11 p.m. College basketball fans can come out and watch who will be crowned NCAA Champion in the AB&G’s private, third-floor party room. School board meetings announced The Allendale Board of Education will meet on Tuesday, March 9 at 8 p.m. in the Brookside School Library, 100 Brookside Avenue. The board has also scheduled a special session for Monday, March 22 at 7 p.m. in the Brookside School Library for the trustees’ approval of submission of the tentative 2010-11 school budget to the county. The board’s March 30 session has been rescheduled for Wednesday, March 31 at 8 p.m. This session will include the public hearing for the tentative 2010-11 school budget. Information on the budget and the programs and services it provides is available in the Allendale Board of Education office at 100 Brookside Avenue. Chamber plans dinner meeting The Allendale Chamber of Commerce will host a dinner meeting on Tuesday, March 9 at 6:30 p.m. at Loco Mexican Café, 51 West Allendale Avenue. The Chamber meets the second Tuesday of the month. Scouts plan Pancake Breakfast Cub Scout Pack 59 will host its annual Pancake Breakfast on Saturday, March 13 at Northern Highlands Regional High School from 8 a.m. to noon. The event will take place on Wednesday, April 7 at 6:30 p.m. at Seasons in Washington Township. The evening will feature a cocktail reception with an open bar and gourmet dinner, an auction, gift basket prizes, and a fashion show sponsored by Fig Leaf Boutique in Garfield. Hillside and Brookside families are invited to a Family Sock Hop sponsored by the Brookside Hillside Music Association. The event will be held March 12 from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. at Brookside School. There will be music, contests, and refreshments available for purchase. The cost is $5 per person or $20 per family. All proceeds will go toward the production costs for the spring musical “Grease” and support of the Brookside Hillside Music Association.
