Please bundle papers in stacks of no more than eight inches and leave them at the curb the night before the collection. Any papers put at the curb after 8 a.m. on Saturday may be missed. Film series features tragic love Waldwick Public Library hosts screenings of classic films on Thursdays at 2 p.m. A brief introduction, setting the film in its historical context, will precede each screening. The theme for the month of March is tragic love. The schedule of screenings includes March 11, “Waterloo Bridge” (1940); March 18, “In a Lonely Place” (1950); and March 25, “Anna Karenina” (1935). Education foundation plans fundraiser The Waldwick Education Foundation Auction will be held on Friday, March 19, from 7 to 10 p.m. at Waldwick High School. Tickets to the fundraiser are $15 and include dinner and an opportunity to win over 100 baskets and prizes. Prizes include YMCA membership, comedy club tickets, restaurant gift cards, and more. Chamber to meet The Waldwick Chamber of Commerce will hold its next general meeting on Wednesday, March 17 at 8:30 a.m. at The Energy Zone, Juice Bar and Café at Superdome Sports, 134 Hopper Avenue, Waldwick. The Waldwick Chamber meets the third Wednesday of each month. All members are welcome to attend. Handwriting analysis workshop set Handwriting expert Bernice Krieger will present a workshop on Wednesday, April 7 at 7 p.m. at the Waldwick Public Library, 19 East Prospect Street. The lecture and question and answer session will be followed by analysis of individual handwriting samples. Student seeks community’s assistance Local high school student Elyssa Giordano has applied for the annual Zinch March Madness $20,000 Scholarship. Giordano is captain of the Varsity Cheerleading Team, and a member of the Waldwick High School Academic Decathlon Team, where she performs at the varsity level. Last year, the decathlon team won at the regional, state, and national levels. This year, the team has advanced to states.
