The group will meet at 10 a.m. in the church parking lot to carpool. Zion hosts Pastor Bob Stagg The annual Theologian in Residence program at the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, 96 East Allendale Road, Saddle River, will feature guest speaker Pastor Bob Stagg of The Church of the Presentation. Father Stagg will present “Transforming Our Spirituality in the Church and the World” in the two-day program set for Saturday, March 13 for two sessions at 3 and 4:30 p.m. with dinner at 6 p.m. and on Sunday, March 14 at 12:30 p.m. with a light lunch. The program will be held in the parish house at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. The cost for this two-day program is $20 and includes meals. RSVP by calling (201) 327-0655. Annual Plant Sale underway The Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club has begun taking orders for its Annual Plant Sale. There will be a great selection of annuals, perennials, herbs, and hanging baskets. Orders are due by April 3. Plants will be available on Saturday, May 8, which is the day before Mother’s Day. The hanging baskets and patio planter make great Mother’s Day gifts. Proceeds from this fundraiser will be donated to various organizations and charities within the community. Delaware announces Dean’s List The following students who attend the University of Delaware have been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2009 semester: Morgan Digravina, Saddle River; and Marissa Gustafson, Stefanie Kahn, Rachel Marklin, and Tasha Nelson, all of Upper Saddle River. To qualify for this honor, a student must be matriculated full-time and have a grade point averages of 3.33 or above. Friends host Book Sale The Friends of the Upper Saddle River Library will host a Book Sale on Saturday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Many titles in all categories are available. Three sets of law books are included. The library is located at 245 Lake Street. ‘Eleanor Roosevelt’ visits library Eleanor Roosevelt will be the topic of a first person living history presentation at the Upper Saddle River Library on Thursday, March 4 at 1 p.m. The program will detail the story of the former first lady’s emotionally difficult upbringing, marriage to a fanatically ambitious man, and her unwavering support during his illness. Fashion Show fundraiser planned Krysten Moore and The Red Carpet Pageant and Prom Store will host a Prom Gown Fashion Show on March 2, at the Church of the Presentation, 271 West Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River. Moore, who won the title of Miss South Jersey in October, will be competing for Miss New Jersey this June. She is raising money to support her platform, “The Education and Prevention of Childhood Bullying.” Funds raised will benefit her organization “SHINE” (Students Helping Instill New Esteem) and “Love Our Children USA,” for which she is a National Youth Ambassador. Emceed by Mr. Delaware, Chris Saltalamacchio, the event will include fun, refreshments, and prizes. The show will begin at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $10 in advance and $15 at the door. Garden Club offers scholarship The Saddle River Garden Club is offering a $1,000 academic scholarship to a student who is planning to study environmental sciences, conservation, architectural design, horticulture, or botany and resides in Bergen County.
