Blood Drive set The Ho-Ho-Kus Blood Donors have scheduled a Community Blood Drive for Thursday, March 11 from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at borough hall, 333 Warren Avenue. To schedule an appointment, call Community Blood Services at (201) 251-3703. All types of blood are needed especially types O- and O+. Any healthy individual age 17 through 75 and weighing at least 110 pounds can donate blood. Donors should eat a moderate meal before donating and must bring identification showing signature. All donors receive a complimentary cholesterol screening with every blood donation. Delaware announces Dean’s List The following Ho-Ho-Kus students who attend the University of Delaware have been named to the Dean’s List for the fall 2009 semester: Sarah Gelotte, John McCarthy, and Brian Schreur. To qualify for the this honor, a student must be matriculated full-time and have a grade point averages of 3.33 or above. Emmanuel asks... Can You Help? An update on the family who needs your help: We are now looking for new area rugs (an 8’ by 10’ and two 11’ by 14’ rugs) to give to a new family whose child is returning home from a bone marrow transplant. We currently need the following food items: long grain rice; tomato sauce; dried or canned red, black, or kidney beans; corn meal; cooking oil; bottled olives; bread crumbs; mango juice; and canned beets. Some of ECF’s families could use Goya brand food products. We also need toilet tissue and paper towels for the regional center. Father Vincent Fortunato Father Vincent Fortunato, O.F.M., Cap., will offer a Lenten mission, “The Return of the Prodigal Son,” on March 15, 16 and 18 at Saint Luke’s Church, 340 North Franklin Turnpike at 7:30 p.m. The program is free and all are welcome. Fr. Fortunato served his religious community in both formation ministry and as provincial minister. He is a trained and qualified spiritual director with an MA in spirituality from Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He holds certifications in spiritual direction. Fr. Vincent is a professor of spirituality at Creighton University and Seton Hall University. He will be serving 8:30 a.m. Mass on March 15, 16, and 18. For additional information ,contact the church office at Seniors enjoy American Folk Music program Saul Broudy, Ph. D., will perform his program “All Over This Land: American Regional Folk Music” for the Ho-HoKus Seniors on Tuesday, March 9 at 1 p.m. Broudy will present grassroots songs from various regions, and discuss how these songs help identify who we are and where we came from. This program is provided by the New Jersey ouncil for the Humanities and is free and open to the public. The seniors meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the education building of the Hermitage. Beverage and dessert are served at noon and programs begin at 1 p.m. Residents 55 and over are welcome to attend.
