Michael John Carlo Sr., formerly of Upper Saddle River and Bordentown, died on Feb. 18. He was 86. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He had been a sales manager for the Esquire Shoe Polish division of the Knomark Co. in New York. He is survived by his children Janice Poracky of Ramsey, Susan Di Cosmo of Mahwah, and Michael Carlo of Baltimore, Maryland, and four grandchildren. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Memorial donations may be made to the Association of Retarded Citizens, or The Foundation of the Blind or Wounded Warriors. Joseph P. Croal of Allendale, formerly of Ramsey, died Feb. 20. He was 87. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of WWII. He was a parishioner of Church of the Guardian Angel in Allendale. He was a member of the Ramsey Golf and Country Club, and a member of the Disabled American Veterans in Bergenfield. He is survived by his wife Elaine (nee Malone), and his sisters Marie Martello of Wyckoff and Margaret Noethen of Fair Lawn. He was predeceased by his brothers Daniel Croal Jr. and Kenneth Croal. Mary Veronica Dittamo of Lanoka Harbor, formerly of Waldwick, died Feb. 20. She was 90. She had been a parishioner at Saint Luke’s R.C. Church in Ho-Ho-Kus and attended Village Lutheran Church in Lanoka Harbor. She had been a volunteer at the Southern Ocean County Hospital Thrift Shop in Waretown. She is survived by daughter Nancy Shedler of Forked River, two grandchildren, and six great grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Charles, and her son Charles Jr. Arrangements were made by Riggs Funeral Home in Forked River. Gnehm, her children Berta Swirczynki, Barbara Corradino-Gnehm, Bonnie Weppler, Brian Gnehm, and Barry Gnehm, five grandchildren, two great grandchildren, and her sisters Anita Mekita, Genevieve DeChellis, and Dolores Casson. He was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a psychologist with the Veterans Administration of New Jersey. He was the owner and operator of the Softball Pitching Center in Ramsey. He had coached youth basketball and softball in Upper Saddle River. He is survived by his wife Joy (nee Markiewicz), his children Tara Gurgick, and Laura Goris, and one grandchild. She was a volunteer at Valley Hospital. She is survived by her children Mark Lofgren of Ceedmoor, North Carolina, and Lee Lofgren of Lander, Wyoming. She was 83. She had been a volunteer for Meals on Wheels and the Braille program. She was a Cub Scout Den mother, and a Sunday school teacher. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Saddle River. She is survived by her sons John and Thomas, and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband John. McAndrews of Glen Rock, formerly of Pitcairn, Pennsylvania, Manhattan, Bronx, and Long Beach, New York, died Feb. 24. He was a U.S. Navy Seabee veteran of WWII and the Korean War. Before retiring, he was a member of the New York City Fire Department. He had been a 30 year member of Engine 60, Bronx, New York. He was a member of the Emerald Society Bagpipe Band, and the Fire Department Holy Name Society. He was a lifetime member of the Glen Rock Ambulance Corps. He is survived by his daughter Patricia Ann McAndrews-Meaney, two grandchildren, and his siblings Mary O’Neill, Kathleen Cassidy, Eileen Cunningham, and James McAndrews. Florence “Flossi” Banks Reilly of Ho-Ho-Kus died Feb. 17. She was 86. She had been the office manager and bookkeeper for her husband’s dental practice. She had previously worked for Price Waterhouse in Philadelphia and the Tom Dewey Campaign for President. She had been a member of the Ho-Ho-Kus PTA, the Newcomers Club, the College Club, and the Contemporary Club. She belonged to the Upper Ridgewood Tennis Club. She was a member of the Ridgewood Jamboree and Capers. She was a member of the Taxpayer’s Association of Barnegat Light, the Barnegat Light Yacht Club, and the Beach Maintenance volunteers. She is survived by her husband Lee, her daughters Linda Reilly of Eugene, Oregon, Andrea Lee Reilly of Chicago, Illinois, and Wendy Jenkins of Essex Junction, Vermont, and four grandchildren. She was predeceased by her parents Florence Rowe Banks and Ben C. Banks, and her brothers Joseph Banks and Jack Banks. A memorial service will be held March 22 at 2 p.m. at the Unitarian Society, 113 Cottage Place, Ridgewood.
