Seniors plan Saratoga Springs trip The seniors at Church of the Presentation are planning a trip to Saratoga Springs July 27 through 29. The tour includes deluxe bus accommodations, two nights in a hotel, seven meals, a luncheon cruise, guided tours of the Chapman Museum, Hyde Collection, National Museum of Racing, and the Hall of Fame, and reserved seating for a luncheon at the Saratoga Racetrack. The cost of the trip is $405 double occupancy, or $5l5 for single occupancy. A deposit of $50 or full payment must be made by June 30. Fundraiser to benefit CASA The Saddle River Valley Junior Woman’s Club has launched a summer fundraiser to benefit Bergen County CASA (Court
Appointed Special Advocates). Perfect for combating the effects of the sun and chlorine after a day at the pool, the club is offering Detox Spa Detoxifying Rescue Wash and a Re-Mineralizing Body Lotion at a discount. All proceeds will benefit CASA, an independent, non-profit organization of professionals and trained volunteers who have been appointed by the New Jersey Family Court to advocate for children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse and/or neglect while helping to move them toward safe and permanent homes. Fundraiser prices are $38 for the wash and $42.50 for the lotion. Prices include tax and delivery for those in USR and the surrounding areas. Books n’ Basketball event set The Upper Saddle River Library will host Books n’ Basketball on Aug. 1 at Madison Square Garden in New York City. Donated glasses are either given to support local eyeglass recycling efforts or shipped to one of seven official Lions Eyeglass Recycling Centers. The Saddle River Valley Lions Club has placed “eyeglass collection boxes” through the club area. Gold and purple boxes with the Lions logo can be found at the following locations: Mahwah: Bank of America, Town Hall, Library and a drive up white box at 190 Franklin Turnpike; Ramsey: Town Hall, Library, Ramsey High School, Quality Optical (Main Street); Saddle River: Bank of America; and Upper Saddle River: Library. Free audiobook software available The Upper Saddle River Library is offering success that Eva’s Village has asked me to help coordinate it this year as an annual event involving groups, corporate sponsors, and volunteers,” Boland said.
