���������������� ������������������ The Waldwick Council had to make a last minute change at its recent meeting in awarding a contract for disposal of grass clippings, branches and brush for the 2010 season. A one-year contract was ultimately awarded to Environmental Renewal at a cost of $14.37 per cubic yard. The company did not offer a bid for the 2011 season. Last year’s low-bid contractor, Nature’s Choice, submitted a low bid again this year: $13.94 for the 2010 season and $14.24 for 2011. It is not feasible to travel on toll roads,” said Borough Administrator Gary Kratz in recommending rejection of Nature’s Choice proposal. Environmental Renewal will use the Kearny composting facility, Kratz said. Residents to get estimated tax bills The Borough of Waldwick will be mailing estimated tax bills to all taxpayers to assure no cash flow problems develop. Actual 2010 tax bills cannot be mailed by the customary July1 date because without state aid figures, the Bergen County Board of Taxation is unable to certify tax rates throughout Bergen County. “People are anxious to find out what their third quarter payment is,” said Mary Ann Viviani, the borough’s chief financial officer and tax collector. She said that the ��������� ��������� estimated amount would be “very close” to the final figure. “I prefer to do this instead of having to go out and borrow the money,” said Councilman Don Sciolaro.Tax anticipation notes are another option, besides the estimated bill, allowed by state law to meet the municipal obligations in a timely manner. The estimated rate on the $36,507,987 that must be raised by taxation is set at $2.343 per $100 of assessed valuation.
