Seniors plan events Tom O’Brien will present “Built for the Road Ahead” at the next meeting of the Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors on June 22 at 1 p.m. O’Brien will offer a visual presentation of the Ford Motor Company in Mahwah from 1955 to 1980. It will include experiences from people who worked there. On July 20, the seniors will hold a buffet lunch at the Shadowbrook Restaurant in Shrewsbury, followed by cruise on the River Belle on the Manasquan River and, weather permitting, Point Pleasant Canal and Barnegat Bay. The River Belle is a replica of a Mississippi river boat. Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors group meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the Education Center of the Hermitage. Dessert and beverages are served at noon with programs at 1 p.m. Residents who are age 55 and over are welcome to join the group for programs and trips. Knights host Golf Outing Saint Luke’s Knights of Columbus is holding its Seventh Annual Golf Outing on Monday, June 14 at the Meadows Golf Course in Lincoln Park. Tickets for the day of golf, food, and prizes are $120 per person. The Hole in One Prize will be a car. All proceeds from the outing will go toward the Knights’ scholarship fund. Summer reading program available Registration for the summer reading program, “Make a Splash,” at the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library will run through the month of June. Children ages two and older are welcome to participate. Parents are encouraged to visit the library at 91 Warren Avenue to register their children for this annual event. Reminder of hours at borough hall Hours of operation at Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Hall are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Due to budgetary restrictions, borough hall employees are not permitted to work overtime without special permission. Ho-Ho-Kus officials ask residents and others who conduct business at borough hall to leave enough time for staff members to carry out their requests during regular hours of operation. The police department remains open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department of public works is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays. Sewing group meets at library A hand stitching group meets at the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library, 91 Warren Avenue, in Ho-Ho-Kus the first and third Monday of each month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Those who enjoy needlepoint or any kind of hand stitching is welcome. For more information, call Gail Fayerweather at (201) 652-1599. Library offers audio service The Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library in Ho-Ho-Kus has joined BeAT -- the Bergen eAudio Team. This service allows patrons to download to their home computer, iPod, iPhone, iPad and Nook, ebooks, audio books, videos, and music. Patrons with a valid Ho-Ho-Kus Library card may log on to www.beateaudio.org. to register. Items may be kept from seven to 21 days. For more information, call the library at (201) 445-8078. Contemporary Club sets fundraiser The Contemporary Club of Ho-Ho-Kus is currently selling fundraiser tickets. The club’s goal is to sell 400 tickets at $100 per ticket with cash prizes being offered as follows: 30 percent of ticket sales for first prize, 12 percent for second, and eight percent for the third prize. The remaining 50 percent of the proceeds will benefit the following organizations: Community Emergency Reserve Fund, HoHo-Kus Chamber of Commerce, Ho-Ho-Kus Recreation Association, Ho-Ho-Kus Senior Citizens, the Youth Activities Council, the Scholarship Fund, and the Contemporary
Club. Winners will be announced at the Ho-Ho-Kus Inn and Tavern at 7 p.m. on June 12. Winners do not need to be present. Ho-Ho-Kus mugs for sale The Ho-Ho-Kus Branch of the Valley Hospital is selling 14-ounce travel mugs. The mugs, made of stainless steel, sport the Ho-Ho-Kus monogram and swivel tops. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Center for Women’s Health at
Valley Hospital. Mugs are $13.50 each and may be purchased by contacting Linda Woodwell at (201) 444-7627. VFW seeks memorabilia Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 192 in Ho-Ho-Kus is seeking photos, newspaper clippings, post cards, maps, aerial photos, and similar items featuring Ho-Ho-Kus and the immediate area, including the Hopper-Zabriskie Cemetery on First Street in Ho-Ho-Kus, prior to 1966.
