Council poised to seek bids for town green
by Jennifer Crusco At press time, Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Engineer David Hals was finalizing the bid specifications for the Ho-HoKus Town Green renovation plans. This week (July 27), the council is expected to vote to pursue bids for the project based on the engineer’s input. Although the plans were still under review last week, an official source reported that the town green project would include pathways connecting from the now nearlycompleted downtown streetscape, new seating areas, game tables, a fountain, and landscaping. “We won’t be spending any new money,” Ho-Ho-Kus Mayor Thomas Randall emphasized last week. The renovation project was funded in the 2009 budget, and no new money will be necessary, a borough official reported. A Bergen County Open Space Trust fund matching grant will pay for half of the project, up to $55,000. The project must be bid as it exceeds the bid threshold. The gazebo, which has been located on the Ho-Ho-Kus Town Green for many years, is not part of the current renovation plans due to the limited availability of funds. Three years ago, the council had considered replacing the gazebo with a larger, bandstand style structure that would be conducive to more forms of outdoor entertainment. Informally suggested concepts for the green have included the potential relocation of the existing gazebo to the area across from the post office, and a future fundraising or sponsorship campaign to cover the cost of a new structure.

The driver was brought to headquarters and took an Alcotest, which he failed. The driver was issued summonses and a mandatory court date. Also on that day, headquarters receive a call about an intruder in a resident’s house. The actor had fled the (continued on page 23)
