Newcomers host summer party The YMCA Ridgewood Newcomers will hold a Ladies’ Summer Party for all new residents to Ridgewood and HoHo-Kus on Wednesday, Aug. 4 to introduce them to the area and the club. Kyle named to Dean’s List Ho-Ho-Kus resident Meghan C. Kyle has been named to the Dean’s List at Ramapo College in Mahwah for the 2010 spring semester. Council schedules combination session The Ho-Ho-Kus Council has scheduled a combination work session and public session for Tuesday, July 27 at 8 p.m. The July 20 work session was cancelled. Vendors sought The Ho-Ho-Kus Community Church is seeking vendors for its Holiday Bazaar scheduled for Nov. 13. Space reserved by Oct. 15 will cost $50 for an upstairs booth, and $40 downstairs. After Oct. 15, booths will be available at $75 and $60 each. The annual event will feature favorites for the holidays, including handmade crafts, baked goods, preserves and jellies, a book stall, a café, and musical entertainment. Artist exhibits carvings Waldwick resident Jeff Seise will exhibit his carvings at the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library during the month of July. Seise’s wood carved art ranges from the human form to wild fowl. While basswood is his preferred medium, Seise will utilize what ever wood is at hand. After 39 years of teaching music and computers, Seise retired from the Park Ridge school district. He continues to work as a piano technician and is a registered craftsman in the Piano Technicians Guild. He is a member of the National Woodcarvers Association and vice president of the North Jersey Carvers, the New Jersey Chapter of the National Woodcarvers Association. Seniors hold meetings The Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors meet on the second and fourth
Tuesdays of the month in the Education Center of the Hermitage. Dessert and beverages are served at noon with programs at 1 p.m. Residents who are age 55 and over are welcome to join the group for programs and trips. Summer reading program available Registration for the summer reading program, “Make a Splash,” at the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library will run through the month of June. Children ages two and older are welcome to participate. Parents are encouraged to visit the library at 91 Warren Avenue to register their children for this annual event. Sewing group meets at library A hand stitching group meets at the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library, 91 Warren Avenue, in Ho-Ho-Kus the first and third Monday of each month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Those who enjoy needlepoint or any kind of hand stitching is welcome. (continued from page 9) house, but a description of the intruder and the vehicle were given. Ptl. J. Bodart located the vehicle and stopped the actor, when Ptl. Bodart observed a green vegetation in plain view and a drug paraphernalia. The actor had also been drinking, and Ptl. Bodart administered a field sobriety test which the individual failed. The actor was arrested for DWI and possession of CDS. He was given a Alcotest. The actor was given summonses and a court date. On July 16, Ptl. A. Balestrieri investigated a hit and run on Route 17. A truck struck a vehicle in the rear quarter panel and as the driver pulled on to the shoulder, the truck driver kept driving. The victim wrote down the license plate and the driver was contacted. He said he didn’t realize that he had struck anyone. The case is under investigation. On July 20, Ptl. G. McBain investigated a two vehicle motor vehicle accident at Hollywood and Lakewood avenues. No injuries were reported. The same day, while conducting stationary radar, Ptl. P. Leonard observed a vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed. After stopping the vehicle, Pt. Leonard learned that the driver’s license was suspended. Summonses and a court date were given. Ptl. A. Balestrieri investigated a hit and run on Route 17 on July 22. The driver that fled was not found. No injuries were reported.
