The demand for water due to the extremely hot weather has outpaced the well supply. All residents and businesses are prohibited from all outdoor water use with the following exceptions: new sod or seeded lawn area, newly applied fertilizer, pesticide or herbicides by a licensed contractor, nurseries or retail outlets, and newly constructed swimming pools may be filled once upon completion. Films highlight love & marriage Waldwick Public Library hosts screenings of classic films on Thursdays at 2 p.m. A brief introduction setting the film in its historical context will precede each screening. The theme for the month of July is love and marriage, and the schedule of screenings is: “The Country Girl” (1954), July 15; and “How to Marry a Millionaire” (1953), July 22. These screenings are free and open to the public. Registration is not necessary, but arrival before 2 p.m. is encouraged. The library is located at 19 East Prospect Street in Waldwick. Children’s art workshop offered The Waldwick Library will host “Powerful Patterns and More!” an art workshop for children on Saturday, July 24 at 10:30 a.m. Jennifer Hoffman, enrichment teacher for the Waldwick Public Schools, will present a special hands-on activity involving tessellations, repeated use of shapes to create patterns, for children who will be entering the second, third, and fourth grades in the fall. In addition to her teaching responsibilities, Hoffman has conducted art workshops for the Gifted Child Society and for many libraries throughout New York and New Jersey. Children’s programs announced The songwriting performance team of Presley & Melody will present an interactive concert for children age three and up at the Waldwick Public Library on Tuesday, July 13 at 11:45 a.m. Humorous songs, movement activities, and upbeat music making will have participants dancing and laughing. “Fish Tales and Ocean Oddballs,” a program presented by wildlife specialist Bill Boesenberg, will have the Waldwick Library awash in a sea of unusual sea creatures on Tuesday, July 20 at 11:45 a.m. Full Effect Productions will bring the Magic Rabbit and his magician friend to the library on Saturday, July 31 at 11 a.m. Magician, ventriloquist, and funny man Steve Woyce will return this summer for another hilarious children’s show, “Make a Splash: Read!” These programs, suitable for children age three and up are free and open to residents of Waldwick. Vacation Bible School set Waldwick United Methodist Church, 25 Franklin Turnpike, will hold its Vacation Bible School Aug. 9 through 13 from 9 a.m. to noon. Marriage counseling available Waldwick United Methodist Church is offering Christian marriage counseling to couples who are seeking help with their marriages, or planning to enter into marriage. District 7490, serving Bergen, Hudson, and Passaic counties, started meeting with those interested in forming a Waldwick chapter in January. Rotarians hold food drives for local food banks, assist the families of servicemen and women fighting abroad, build wells and schools all over the world, clean their communities, and even prepare young people for successful futures through Interact (high school), React (middle school) and Rotaract (college) programs.
