Seise’s wood carved art ranges from the human form to wild fowl. While basswood is his preferred medium, Seise will utilize what ever wood is at hand. After 39 years of teaching music and computers, Seise retired from the Park Ridge school district. He continues to work as a piano technician and is a registered craftsman in the Piano Technicians Guild. He is a member of the National Woodcarvers Association and vice president of the North Jersey Carvers, the New Jersey Chapter of the National Woodcarvers Association. Woman’s Club announces scholarship winners The Woman’s Club of Ho-Ho-Kus has awarded scholarships to outstanding students Nicole LaSpina and Zachary Bascio. LaSpina will be attending Boston University in Massachusetts. Bascio is enrolled in the ROTC program at Susquehanna University in Pennsylvania. Representing the Woman’s Club at the Girl’s Career Institute at Douglas College will be Courtney Dock of Waldwick. The Amelia Perkins Art awards were given to Nora Verhoff and Matthew McAuliffe, recent graduates of the Ho-Ho-Kus Public School. Memoir writing workshop offered The Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library in Ho-Ho-Kus, 91 Warren Avenue, will host a six-week workshop on memoir writing beginning Tuesday, July 13. The twohour session will run from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. Participants will discuss and write about their life experiences. These workshops are free. Call (201) 445-8078 to register. Program on self-esteem offered The Girl Scouts of Northern New Jersey will host a self-esteem program for girls in grades three through six on July 21 at the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library, 91 Warren Avenue, Ho-Ho-Kus. “Discover the Beauty Within” will help girls learn about themselves and raise their self-assurance. Participants will discuss the messages the media sends about beauty, and will have an opportunity to make scented bath salts. Both Elizabeth and Christopher are students at Bergen Community College, majoring in Horticulture. Funds for the scholarships were raised at the Club’s annual plant sale in May. Seniors plan luncheon cruise The Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors will hold a buffet lunch at the Shadowbrook Restaurant in Shrewsbury, followed by cruise on the River Belle on the Manasquan River and, weather permitting, Point Pleasant Canal and Barnegat Bay on July 20. The River Belle is a replica of a Mississippi river boat. Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors group meets on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the Education Center of the Hermitage. Dessert and beverages are served at noon with programs at 1 p.m. Residents who are age 55 and over are welcome to join the group for programs and trips.
