Municipal alliance brings motivational speaker to school
Students and staff at the E.C.L.C. School in Ho-HoKus (formerly Saint Luke’s School) recently hosted motivational speaker Dr. Rob Gilbert. Gilbert’s presentation to the school’s special needs students was sponsored by the Ho-Ho-Kus Municipal Alliance. The school’s special guest is a leading expert on sports psychology, which he teaches at Montclair State University. He is also the director of the Center for Sports Success. The professor has built his career researching athletic motivation and teamwork, and has applied his findings to assist athletes and business professionals to succeed in their endeavors. His research includes studies of the mental skills of the world’s great athletes and the practices of the most successful business executives and highest-earning sales people. According to the website, “A Vision in Motion,” Gilbert’s studies have helped thousands of athletes to defeat their mental problems. With his belief that minds, not muscles, win games, Gilbert “mentally coaches” athletes on how to become winners. In particular, he focuses on the issues of choking (failure to perform under pressure), slumps, lack of self-confidence, and other related problems. Gilbert has presented over 2,000 speeches and seminars around the country. He has addressed athletes and coaches, students and educators, and Fortune 500 executives, medical personnel, and United States Military Academy cadets. Gilbert runs a Success Hotline and produces the Success Newsletter, which is available online. He is the former overcoming adversity, communication skills, team building, sports psychology, parent workshops, staff development workshops, youth summits, commencement addresses, and keynote speeches. Gilbert’s appearance was the latest in a series to be presented at the E.C.L.C. School under the Ho-Ho-Kus Municipal Alliance’s sponsorhip. J. CRUSCO
