Friends host Book Sale The Friends of the Upper Saddle River Library will host a Book Sale on Saturday, March 6 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Many titles in all categories are available. The library is located at 245 Lake Street. ‘Eleanor Roosevelt’ visits library Eleanor Roosevelt will be the topic of a first person living history presentation at the Upper Saddle River Library on Thursday, March 4 at 1 p.m. The program will detail the story of the former first lady’s emotionally difficult upbringing, marriage to a fanatically ambitious man, and her unwavering support during his illness. Register for Spring Tennis Clinics Registration for Spring Tennis Clinics will take place at Upper Saddle River Borough Hall, 376 West Saddle River Road, weekdays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. There will be two five-week sessions to be held at the Wickersham Tennis Courts. The first session will be held on Mondays or Wednesdays beginning the week of March 29, with no lessons the week of school break. The second session will also be held on Mondays or Wednesdays starting the week of May 10. An adult session will be held at 7 p.m. during the second week. The cost for the five-week session is $90. Recreational soccer registration underway Registration for the fall 2010 recreational soccer season will be held at Upper Saddle River Borough Hall, 376 West Saddle River Road, March 6 and 20 from 9 a.m. to noon. All resident children and children of borough and school employees are eligible and if they will be in kindergarten through grade 12 in September. Games will begin the first or second weekend after school starts and will continue until the middle of November. The Kindersoccer program for kindergarteners will be held Saturday mornings for one hour with professional trainers. The first and second grade instructional program will be held on Saturday mornings for girls, and Sunday afternoons for boys and will be made up of teams within the town. The third through eighth grade travel program will be held Saturday mornings for girls, and Sunday afternoons for boys. The travel teams will participate in the NWBSA league on alternate weekends. The ninth through twelfth grade teams are co-ed and will be played Sunday afternoons. Parents are asked to consider volunteering as a coach, assistant coach, or in other positions needed to keep the program going. The cost is $75 for one child, $150 for two children, and $200 for three or more children. The application form and other information will be posted at the website, www.usrsoccer.org. Participants should fill out the application online, then print the completed form and bring it to the borough hall along with a check for the appropriate amount made out to “USR Soccer Association” and a wallet-sized photo for children going into the grade three and up. The application will not be accepted without the photo. The Performing Arts Department at Saddle River Day School will present ‘Seussical The Musical,’ the hit Broadway show based on the books by Dr. Seuss on Feb. 27 at 7:30 p.m. and Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. in the Performing Arts Center on campus. All seats are reserved. Tickets prices for both performances are $15 for adults. The regular ticket price for children is $10, but children pay $5 when accompanied by an adult.
