John L. Chaipis of Wyckoff, formerly of Allendale, died Feb. 2. He was 85. He was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He had been employed as chief engineer of Grado Labs in Brooklyn, New York. He is survived by his wife Elaine (nee Reinhardt) of Wyckoff, his daughter Wendy Sowa-Maldarelli of Teaneck, and stepson Scott Riegel of Northwood, New Hampshire, and one grandson. Arrangements were made by C.C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Sarajane “Sally” Thatcher Allen Edwards of Sunrise, Florida, formerly of Saddle River, died Jan. 30. She was 94. She had been a bookkeeper. She is survived by four nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by siblings David Runyon Allen and Irene Allen Ackerman. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider-Pernice Funeral Home in Ramsey. Denise M. Hughes of Upper Saddle River died Feb. 3. She was 67. She is survived by her husband Frank N. Hughes of Upper Saddle River, her children Kelly A. Hughes of New York City, Timothy R. Hughes of Upper Saddle River, and Brian C. Hughes of Ridgewood, three grandchildren, and her sister Jean M. Higgins of Oceanport. Arrangements were made by C. C. Van Emburgh Funeral Home in Ridgewood. Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice. Oscar D. Kellner of Mahwah died Jan. 30. He was 77. Arrangements were made by Van Emburgh-Sneider- Pernice in Ramsey. Florence Millington of Midland Park died Feb. 2. She was 93. Before retiring in 1980, she was a nurse at Valley Hospital in Ridgewood. She was a parishioner of Church of the Nativity in Midland Park. She is survived by her children Joseph Millington of Montvale, and Jamie Rea Sanchez of Lincoln Park, four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband James and her daughter Carolyn Manuel. Arrangements were made by The Olthuis Funeral Home in Midland Park. He was employed with Hoffman La Roche/Johnson Controls for 37 years. He co-chaired, with his wife, the first Gold Award Girl Scout Troop in Midland Park. She is survived by her children Joan Krilla, Douglas Ryan, Mary Ellen Hayden, Brigid Ryan, and Patricia Ryan-Hunt, seven grandchildren, six great grandchildren, and her siblings Frank Kopko, Margie Delavalle, Ann Capen, and Betty Sotile. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He is survived by his wife Eleanor C. He had been a banker with Chase Manhattan Bank in New York and National Community Bank. For the last 15 years, he was a specialized credit consultant. He was a volunteer with Boy Scout Troop 157 for many years, and was a member of Emmanuel Baptist Church in Ridgewood. He served as an executive to the NYC United Way, and a member of the Utica, New York Rotary. He is survived by his wife Anna, his children William Jr. of Midland Park, Suzanne Wilkins Yu of Wilton, Connecticut, Jarrett Wilkins of Ringwood, Clifford Wilkins of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and two grandchildren.
