And kissing balls hang from the decorative lampposts in that area. The seasonal project is a community-wide effort spearheaded by Waldwick Chamber of Commerce President Christine Figliuolo. “It’s a collaborative effort among members, many of whom have been personally involved, working hands-on to provide the finishing touches,” Figliuolo explained. The chamber purchased the kissing balls and the snowman that welcomes visitors to the borough. Home Hardware donated all the lights and other accessories. And Waldwick Gardens contributed and decorated the hanging pots of evergreens and pine cones. The Waldwick Lions Club, which held its annual tree sale behind the clock last week, donated six trees to serve as the backdrop to the clock setting. Figliuolo said they have been distributed among needy families in town. Jerry Pignatelli of Generation III came to the rescue when it was discovered that electrical power to the clock area had been cut off. “He sent a team right over so we could finish the work,” Figliuolo said. She and a few other chamber members worked over a period of three mornings making the area around the clock attractive and inviting. Gigliuolo had particular praise for the borough’s Department of Public Works, whom she said always goes out of its way to help with Chamber projects. She said this year they lowered all the brackets on the lampposts so the kissing balls would look even more attractive, and they also delivered all the hanging pots to their appropriate location.
