Toys for Tots collection set In the Swing in Waldwick is hosting a Toys for Tots collection at its 145 Hopper Avenue location. For each donated toy, the donor will receive four free admission tickets for one child during the month of January. New, unused, and unwrapped toys may be dropped off at the main office by Dec. 17. For information, call (201) 444-3556. Auxiliary sets Christmas Luncheon Members of the Waldwick Branch of the Valley Hospital Auxiliary will meet at noon on Dec. 1 for a Christmas Luncheon. The group will gather at Mezza Luna, 97 West Allendale Avenue, in Allendale. The cost is $20. Auxiliary members should send checks to Annette. Scouts set ceremony, Food Drive The Waldwick Girl Scouts will host the Annual Holiday Tree & Menorah Lighting Ceremony on Friday, Dec. 3 at 7 p.m. on the lawn of the Waldwick Public Library. All families are welcome to join in the festivities for holiday singing. Santa will be on hand to help turn on the lights. Following the ceremony, refreshments will be provided by the Waldwick Fire Department at the Co. #1 firehouse. The Girl Scouts are also conducting a Holiday Food Drive and ask that donations of non-perishable food be placed in boxes that will be located at the firehouse during the holiday event. Revised recycling dates announced The Borough of Waldwick has announced the revised dates for recycling pick up for December. The dates are as follows: Dec. 1, 15, and 29. Open House, registration set The Ho-Ho-Kus/Waldwick Cooperative Nursery School will hold its annual Open
House on Friday, Dec. 3 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Parents and their preschoolers are invited to stop in to see the classrooms and meet with the teachers and current members. Classes for two-, three-, and four-yearolds are currently available for the 201112 school year. The nursery school offers various educational enrichment programs including music and Spanish. Extended day options are also available. The school offers a co-op opportunity for those who wish to assist in the classroom. Registration opens on Dec. 3. The school is located at 400 Warren Avenue in Ho-Ho-Kus. The Ho-Ho-Kus/ Waldwick Cooperative Nursery School is a state-approved, non-profit, and nonsectarian school. Register for lacrosse Waldwick Lacrosse will hold registration for the spring season on Wednesday, Dec. 1 from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Knights of Columbus Hall at the corner of Smith and West Prospect streets in Waldwick. The program is open to boys and girls in grades three through eight. The registration fee is $135. Registration for the second grade program, Fiddlesticks, is $50. An equipment swap will be held during registration. LAX pads, cleats, helmets, gloves, etc., may be donated at this time or by contacting Meg Wanamaker at (201) 741-4226. PSO seeks prize donations The Julia A. Traphagen School PSO is seeking prizes for its 13th annual “Evening of Military Bridge” scheduled for Friday, Feb. 4. The evening of tournament cards and prize baskets is the PSO’s biggest fundraising event of the year. Items sought include products/services, gift certificates, free tickets, coupons, or monetary donations. Donors will receive publicity prior to and during the event, and will be acknowledged in the event’s program.
Prize donations may be sent to: Julia A. Traphagen School, Attention: Mary Beth Nappi-Military Bridge, 153 Summit Avenue, Waldwick NJ 07463. All proceeds will be used to benefit the students and teachers of Julia A. Traphagen Elementary School. Proceeds from this event will go toward resurfacing the outdoor basketball court and acquiring new basketball equipment, purchasing technological materials, and hosting several community activities. Traphagen’s Parent-School Organization is a registered 501(c)(3) charitable organization. All donations are tax deductible (ID# 22-3766888.) Local sponsors sought The athletic department at Waldwick High School is seeking community sponsors for its sports poster program. Funds raised by the sale of the posters will benefit the athletic departments at the high school. All American Sports Posters has been contracted to produce the posters.
