Page 10 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • August 18, 2010 Ho-Ho-Kus Jottings Beller exhibits drawings at library Artist Karen Ann Beller is exhibiting her pencil and crayon drawing at the WorthPinkham Memorial Library during the month of August. A New Jersey resident, Beller is fascinated by the Dutch Masters, Cezanne, Monet, and Vermeer. The drawings on display are from her visits to Italy, Greece, and Nantucket. The library is located at 91 Warren Avenue. Meeting schedule updated The Aug. 17 work session of the Ho-HoKus Mayor and Council has been cancelled. A combination work session and public session will take place at Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Hall at 8 p.m. on Aug. 24. Vendors sought The Ho-Ho-Kus Community Church is seeking vendors for its Holiday Bazaar scheduled for Nov. 13. Space reserved by Oct. 15 will cost $50 for an upstairs booth, and $40 downstairs. After Oct. 15, booths will be available at $75 and $60 each. The annual event will feature favorites for the holidays, including handmade crafts, baked goods, preserves and jellies, a book stall, a café, and musical entertainment. Seniors hold meetings The Ho-Ho-Kus Seniors meet on the second and fourth Tuesdays of the month in the Education Center of the Hermitage. Dessert and beverages are served at noon with programs at 1 p.m. Residents who are age 55 and over are welcome to join the group for programs and trips. Reminder of hours at borough hall Hours of operation at Ho-Ho-Kus Borough Hall are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Due to budgetary restrictions, borough hall employees are not permitted to work overtime without special permission. Ho-Ho-Kus officials ask residents and others who conduct business at borough hall to leave enough time for staff members to carry out their requests during regular hours of operation. The police department remains open to the public 24 hours a day, seven days a week. The department of public works is open from 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays. Sewing group meets at library A hand stitching group meets at the Worth-Pinkham Memorial Library, 91 Warren Avenue, in Ho-Ho-Kus the first and third Monday of each month from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Those who enjoy needlepoint or any kind of hand stitching is welcome. The mugs, made of stainless steel, sport the Ho-Ho-Kus monogram and swivel tops. Proceeds from the sale benefit the Center for Women’s Health at Valley Hospital. VFW seeks memorabilia Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 192 in Ho-Ho-Kus is seeking photos, newspaper clippings, post cards, maps, aerial photos, and similar items featuring Ho-Ho-Kus and the immediate area, including the HopperZabriskie Cemetery on First Street in HoHo-Kus, prior to 1966. Bond ordinances (continued from page 5) included at a cost of $55,000. After the $2,700 down payment, the balance of that project will be funded by bonds and notes in the amount of $52,300. The ordinance also includes $71,500 for upgrades to Well #4 and the East Gate sanitary sewer pump station. The down payment for that project would be $3,500, with the balance to be funded by bonds. A sum of $55,000 has been earmarked for heating, ventilation, and air conditioning repairs at various public buildings. This project will be funded by a $2,700 down payment and $52,300 in bonds. An additional $21,400 is included for the acquisition of Scott packs, LDH supply hose conversion, pagers, and a fire hose for the Ho-Ho-Kus Volunteer Fire Department. Of the total expenditure, $1,100 will be a down payment and $20,300 will be funded by bonds. This ordinance also includes $25,500 for new computer server and printer for the finance department. Of the total cost, $1,300 will be covered by the down payment and $24,200 will be funded by bonds. A sum of $40,800 is earmarked for a four-wheel drive vehicle to be used by the police department. This purchase will be funded by a $2,000 down payment and $38,800 in bonds. Ordinance #968 includes expenditures for the department of public works. This measure includes $28,000 for a laptop computer for mobile water meter reading and $50,000 for a service body truck. Funding for the computer includes a down payment of $1,400 and bonds in the amount of $26,600.
