Page 6 THE VILLADOM TIMES III • August 11, 2010 Waldwick Parking on Lincoln Place in Waldwick will be restricted on both sides of the street near Franklin Turnpike if a proposed ordinance is adopted this week. The ordinance, scheduled for a public hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 10, prohibits parking at all times on the north side of Lincoln Place for a distance of 125 feet from Franklin Turnpike. Parking is already prohibited on the south side for 200 feet from Franklin Turnpike. The proposed ordinance was prompted by traffic safety concerns expressed by Dr. Jacqueline Crane and Dr. Glen Moscowitz of Associated Family Dentists, whose parking lot is accessed from Lincoln Place. The dentists told the council that the parked cars limit the visibility of the cars exiting their parking lot onto Lincoln Place regardless Proposed ordinance would eliminate sight obstructions of whether they are turning left or right. In addition, they noted that the one parking space permitted between their driveway apron and Franklin Turnpike presents an added risk because a vehicle making a right from their parking lot has to go substantially into the road to go around that parked car, and is at risk of being hit by a car turning right onto Lincoln Place from Franklin Turnpike. Dr. Crane said that the parking congestion at Lincoln Place is a relatively new development, with cars now parked there all day. She said her patients and employees do not park on the street, since the practice’s parking lot can accommodate everyone on site. (continued on page 17) NOW OPEN! entire purchase with this ad.
