(continued from page 6) “I felt it’s a dangerous situation and I’m glad it will be taken care of,” said Dr. Crane. “I hope for the sake of the residents that the town can help them mitigate their parking problems,” she added. The proposed ordinance has left unanswered the concerns of the residents, who have been attending council meetings since May asking for relief. Lincoln Place resident Kim Antonick complained at a meeting in May about the cars parked in front of her house and asked for resident-only restrictions. In June other residents complained that the parked vehicles prevent street sweeping and leaf and snow removal, impair their quality of life and raise safety concerns. “The cars park there from 6 or 6:30 a.m. until 10 p.m. I have no idea who they are, and they are very close to my driveway. They appear to be commuters. I keep my children in the back yard, so I’m losing use of my front yard,” Carol Hill told the council at that time. “Emergency vehicles can’t get through,” she added. Lt. Ed Weber said that when the residents raised the issue of suspicious cars parked all day on Lincoln Place, the police had run the car plates in the course of the investigation. He said all of the cars checked, with the exception of one, were from Waldwick, including one from a Lincoln Place resident a few blocks away. Council members and the residents had speculated that the street was being used by commuters unable to get permits for the train station lot on Hewson Street, for which there is a long waiting list. Borough officials have asked the NJ Department of Transportation to allow for the sale of more permits. At the present time, they said, 220 permits have been sold. The lot has 150 spaces, but they are usually not all occupied.
