Deer resistant plants offered Garden committee member Gert Howell giving advice to Mildred Marson and friend about Butterfly friendly plants for a garden at a previous plant sale. The Annual Heritage Plant Sale at the HopperGoetschius House Museum in Upper Saddle River will be held on Saturday, May 1 from 10:30 a.m. until plants are gone. This year’s sale will feature a large selection of deer and groundhog resistant plants. In addition to Mother’s Day plants, there will be annuals, ferns, grasses, herbs, heritage plants from the museum’s gardens, and perennials donated by local gardeners. Derek Michalski from the USR Environmental Committee will also be on hand to talk on composting. At 11:30 a.m., Arnie Friedman from the USR Shade Tree Commission will discuss tree and shrub pruning and answer questions. Members of the Museum Garden Committee will be on hand to share advice.
