Former child care worker charged with theft, forgery
by John Koster The Ridgewood Police Department has arrested a 31-year-old Ramsey woman for forgery and theft from a former Ridgewood employer. Ridgewood Detective Douglas Henky concluded a twoweek investigation of the theft and forgery of a Ridgewood resident’s personal checks. The Ridgewood woman said she had noticed checks made out to her child care provider. Detective Henky obtained surveillance video images from the Ridgewood woman’s bank and the resident was able to positively identify the Ramsey woman, her former child care worker. The Ramsey woman was arrested and charged with three counts of fraud, three counts of issuing false checks, and one count of theft. The former child care worker also had an active warrant against her from West Milford and a warrant against her from Bergen County Superior Court. She was remanded to Bergen County Jail upon arrest. Ridgewood police officers arrested a number of motorists for possession of marijuana and arrested minor pedestrians for illegal possession of alcohol during the first days of September. Patrolman Dinice conducted a motor vehicle stop on Shelton Road on Sept. 2. He determined that the driver, a 23-year-old Paramus man, had outstanding warrants against him in Paramus and in Cliffside Park. The man posted bail and was released pending future court appearances in both municipalities. On Sept. 4, at 10:05 p.m., Patrolman Raymond Tarino was checking the Benjamin Franklin Middle School property, where he observed a vehicle that did not belong at the school parking lot. He approached and saw two people sitting in the vehicle, and he reportedly observed a bag of marijuana on the center console. Patrolman Dinice arrested an 18-year-old man and charged him with possession of marijuana. That man was released pending an appearance in municipal court. The female juvenile in the car was released into the custody of her parents. Twenty minutes later, Patrolman Rosario Vaccarella observed three juveniles sitting at a picnic table at the George Washington Middle School. When they saw him, the juveniles began to run. Patrolman Vaccarella was able to detain one of the juveniles and reportedly determined that they had been in possession of marijuana. The juvenile was released in the custody of his parents pending further investigation by the Ridgewood Detective Bureau. On Sept. 5, Patrolman Vaccarella responded to a report of a large group of juveniles at the intersection of South Irving Street and Arden Court. When he arrived, he observed a female juvenile and a male juvenile. The female was falling down and unable to maintain her balance. The male dropped a knapsack and attempted to abandon it. Police determined that the knapsack contained alcoholic beverages. The juveniles were released into the custody of their parents pending juvenile court action.
