Interfaith service and exhibit set An exhibit, “Pieces for Peace,” featuring the collages of Morristown artist Alice Harrison, will be on display at the Cottage Place Gallery at the Unitarian Society of Ridgewood, 113 Cottage Place, through Sept. 26. Harrison’s inspiration for this series of collage paintings springs from both personal and social concerns. The theme of developing a peaceful world through teaching children tolerance was brought into focus by her granddaughter, Rebecca, who heard a talk by educator Colman McCarthy. Harrison’s award-winning work has been exhibited widely in galleries and universities throughout the United States, Europe, and New Zealand. She has received several Geraldine R. Dodge grants, and is included in “2000 Outstanding Artists and Designers of the 20th Century.” There will be a reception on Saturday, Sept. 11, from 2 to 5 p.m. An Interfaith Witness for Peace service will follow at 5:30 p.m. The service will include readings and reflections from different faiths focused on a shared commitment to creating a peaceful community in which all people of faith can worship in freedom.
