Classes will be held at The Stable, 259 North Maple Avenue. Instructors encourage hands-on learning at an individual pace. Drawing for children in grades two through five will meet on Wednesdays from 3:30 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Sept. 22. Students will work with drawing pencils and pastels. The cost is $54 for six classes. Materials are additional; a list will be provided at registration. Sculpture Studio with Abrakadoodle for children in grades one through four will meet on Wednesdays from 3:45 to4:45 p.m. beginning Sept. 22. Students will experiment with a variety of sculpting methods, learn the basics of working with clay and create a variety of art. The cost for six classes is $120 and includes all materials. Beginning Sept. 23, children in kindergarten through grade two can join Nature in the Village. Classes will be held Thursdays from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. New topics are provided weekly. There will be discussions, hands-on projects, and outdoor treks (weather permitting). The cost is $95 for six classes; all materials provided. Aviation Club, a program for students in kindergartener through grade five, will meet on Fridays, from 3:45 to 4:45 p.m. beginning Sept. 24. Participants will learn about the world of aviation, how to read and evaluate construction plans, and how to use various hobby tools as they create and operate a variety of air models. The cost for six sessions is $120 and includes all materials. The village’s youngest residents may also sign up for a variety of courses. My First Art Class with Abrakadoodle, for children ages 20 to 42 months with a caregiver, will be held Mondays from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m., beginning Sept. 20 at the Stable. This series focuses on exploration of painting, drawing, sculpting, reading, playing art games, and having fun. Activities are designed to provide opportunities to touch, feel, hear, and see; while building fine motor skills, language, creativity, and cognitive skills. The cost is $110 for the six-week session, and includes all safe, non-toxic Crayola materials. Mini Doodler Mix It Up for children three though five will meet on Mondays from 10:30 to 11:15 a.m. beginning Sept. 20 at the Stable. This art class focuses on fun while building self-confidence and freedom of expression. This is a mixed media class. Children will explore painting, printing, sculpting, collage-making, and more. The cost is $110 for the six-week session and includes all materials. Children ages three through five may join Happy Feet Dance Instruction on Mondays from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. beginning Sept. 20 at the Stable. This class offers and introduction to basic ballet positions and thematic movement exploration. The cost is $60 for the six-week session. Formal dance attire is not necessary. Sport Squirts with U.S. Sports Institute is for children ages three through five and will meet on Wednesdays at Veteran’s Field North. Sessions will begin Sept. 22. Participants may choose one-hour sessions from 9:30 a.m. through 1:45 p.m. This program introduces children to a variety of sports in a safe, structured environment. All games and activities will encompass hand/eye coordination, balance, agility, and movement – all of which are key factors in the early development of children. The cost is $140 for six one-hour sessions. All materials are provided. Happy Piano for children three through five years old will meet on Thursdays for one-half hour sessions offered between 1 and 2:30 p.m. Classes will begin Sept. 23 at the Stable. Students will learn the basics of music theory and how to play familiar songs on the piano. Educational songs, props, and teaching aids are used. Each child is provided with a keyboard to use in class. The cost is $110 for the six-week session. An additional once-yearly material kit of $35 can be purchased online at www.happypiano.com.
