Salary
(continued from page 3) “People are laid off, yet at the same time other people are getting a two percent increase.” Eisen said. He said that, instead of giving raises for existing jobs, employees and village officials should accept a wage freeze and furloughs without pay to retain as many Ridgewood employees as possible, as police officers did when they saved the jobs of two junior officers. Giving some employees increases, Eisen said, was unacceptable when others were turned out of work. “I think it’s a terrible idea to even consider it,” he said.

Bethlehem offers music and ministry
The Solid Rock Evangelical Association founder Rev. Tony Loeffler will share his music and a film about mission work in Cuba on Saturday, Oct. 30. The program will begin at 8 p.m. at the church, which is located at 155 Linwood Avenue, Ridgewood. The Solid Rock Evangelical Association is committed to world evangelism. Ministry volunteers use contemporary music and powerful testimony to bring the message of God’s love to shelters, missions, and prisons throughout the world. Loeffler has performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland and at the Cross Rhythms Festival and numerous other locations throughout England over the last 15 years. He has produced 14 albums in 25 years. Bitter from the tragic death of his parents, Loeffler was a homeless and suicidal drifter who ate from garbage cans. He had become a hopeless drug addict and his marriage was ending. He was someone everyone passed by, until a Salvation Army officer gave him a place to sleep one December night, and introduced him to Jesus.
