High School to perform ‘Inherit the Wind’ The Glen Rock High School Theater Company will perform “Inherit the Wind” on Nov, 18, 19, and 20 at 7:30 p.m. All performances will be held in the Glen Rock High School’s all-purpose room located behind the middle school gym. Tickets are $10 for adults, and $7 for senior citizens and students up to age 18. The performers will once again present an evening of dining and theater for the Saturday evening performance (Nov. 20). Attendees may enjoy a catered dinner with friends and family in the GRHS cafeteria prior to the performance. Doors will open at 5 p.m. Tickets for the Nov. 20 dinner and performance are $25 for adults, and $20 for senior citizens and students up to age 18. General admission tickets are also available for this performance. Tickets may be purchased at the Glen Rock High School Hamilton Lobby on Oct. 26, 28 and Nov, 3 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. and on Oct. 27 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Internet genealogy demonstration offered The Glen Rock Jewish Center, located at 682 Harristown Road, will host an Internet genealogy demonstration on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 11 a.m. Those who attend may participate in a hands-on demonstration of Internet search techniques. Janet Isenberg, an amateur genealogist with 35 years of experience, will share her techniques and secrets. Isenberg will be available to answer individual questions on particular searches. Participants are asked to bring clearly written or typed information about their families, including names, birthdates, birthplaces, death dates, and death places. Doctor hosts free day of dentistry

Mayra Modesto-Garrido, D.D.S. will host a free Dentistry from the Heart dental care event on Saturday, Nov. 13 from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The doctor and her team of dentists and volunteers will offer one filling, one extraction, or one cleaning at Excel Dentistry, P.C., 266 Harristown Road, Suite 102, in Glen Rock. This event will also include a Blood Drive, which will be held between10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Over 100 million Americans lack dental insurance and over 29 percent of adults have untreated cavities. Without events like Dentistry from the Heart, dental care is not an option for many of the uninsured. To date, DFTH has helped more than 25,000 patients and provided over $5.5 million in dental care. “Now more than ever, I know there are people out there who need my services, but have no means to afford them – whether they’re out of a job, or just don’t have dental insurance. Dentistry from the Heart is my way of giving back to the community, and helping people who are in need of dental work,” said Doctor Modesto-Garrido. Learn to make costume jewelry A workshop on costume jewelry making will be held Oct. 24 at 7:30 p.m. at the Glen Rock Jewish Center, 682 Harristown Road. WICS Social is this week The Glen Rock Women in Community Service, also known as WICS, will host a Membership Social on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 7:30 p.m. at a member’s home. The event offers the opportunity to learn about WICS programs and how to become involved. It also provides a time to mingle
and make new friends. A non-profit organization open to adult women of all ages, WICS focuses on community service through outreach to numerous local area groups in need. Satrapi memoir featured at festival The Glen Rock Library’s Foreign Film Festival will continue Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. with “Persepolis.” Based on the critically-acclaimed graphic novel of the same name, this autobiographical tale captures the trials and tribulations of growing up female in Iran in the 1970s. The energy and tumult of the revolution provides a turbulent backdrop to Marjane Satrapi’s memoir about family, identity, and rebellion. Glen Rock resident Jerry Lerner will serve as the facilitator. Area residents are invited to view the film and join the discussion. There is no fee, and registration is not necessary. The programs will take place in the library’s lower level.
