October 13, 2010 THE VILLADOM TIMES II • Page 29 Ridgewood Notes Film Festival comes to library The Eighth Annual Reel Voices Film Festival, sponsored by the Friends of the Library, will be held on Oct. 13, 15, and 22, and Nov. 12 and 19 at 7:30 p.m. in the Belcher Auditorium at the Ridgewood Public Library. New member classes offered The Rev. Dr. Gareth Icenogle, senior pastor and head of staff at West Side Presbyterian Church, 6 South Monroe Street, will lead a series of new member classes beginning this month. Anyone who would like to learn more about what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ and a member of West Side is encouraged to attend. Participation in a class is not a commitment to join the church. Saturday classes will be held 8:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 23 and Nov. 20. Classes for 2011 will be held Jan. 22, Feb. 26, March 26, May 21, and June 4. Refreshments will be provided and child care is available upon request. Attendance at one class is all that is requested prior to becoming a member. Film discussion series begins The Adult Education Committee of Temple Israel and JCC in Ridgewood will launch this year’s Sunday Night at the Movies film/discussion series with a presentation of the film “Walk on Water” on Sunday, Oct. 24 at 7 p.m. A politically complex drama of mystery and suspense, this 2004 Israeli film follows a Mossad agent, working undercover as a tour guide, around the Jewish state in the company of the grandchildren of an ex-Nazi officer. The agent, Eyal, travels to Germany to fulfill his mission, managing to attend a family birthday party and confronts the aged Nazi with surprising results. Rabbi David J. Fine, Ph.D., spiritual leader of Temple Israel, will lead a discussion following the screening. The event is open to the public, and there is a $5 per person suggested donation to cover costs and refreshments. The temple is located at 475 Grove Street in Ridgewood. Students raise funds for cancer research The Ridgewood High School advanced marketing/ merchandising class and RHS DECA, an association of marketing students, are hosting a benefit T-shirt sale. All profits from the sale of this student-designed shirt will be donated to The Career Institute of New Jersey to be used for cancer research.
